1  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / covering wooden boxes with polymer clay on: November 18, 2007 09:26:54 PM
Can I cover wooden boxes and such with polyclay in the same manner as altoid tins or hand mirrors?

I would just test it out and see if it works, but I'd much rather make sure if someone else has tried before I burn my house down or blow up my oven. Knowing me something terrible will happen if I don't really know what I'm doing... Cheesy

thanks guys <3
2  COOKING / Dessert / Freezing dough question. on: August 12, 2007 11:05:46 AM
I hope this goes here, I'm really sorry if it doean :/

but I had a question. I'm having a party in a few weeks and I'm seeing TONS of baking in my future.

Can I freeze cookie dough, then thaw it out when I want to bake the cookies? How about tart crust?

and how would I go about unthawing them when the time is right? haha

thank you so much for your help! <3
3  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / first-time FIMO-er (: lot's o jewlery- pretty pic heavy on: June 17, 2007 05:59:53 PM
okay, so it's official. I LOVE THIS STUFF!! <3

but anyway, I've been hard at work making size 0 gauge earrings and a couple of necklace pendants to day (:

What I did for these is I bought a ton of buttons, made the plug out of clay- and before I baked the clay I put the end of the button that sticks out so you can sew it to things, I put that in one end of the plug. Just to make a hole in there, then I took out the button and baked baked baked! When it was done, I hot glued the button into the indent.

and these are some 0 gauge fimo crayons. yay (: haven't put them in yet, but they're very cool Cheesy

ANNDDDDD for some necklace pendants

a cuppie cake

and a cute little voodoo doll

fimo = amazing
life = good

comments/critisism/tips all welcome!

later gatorz..
4  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / adultish-content question about Sculpey. WARNING:DRUG-RELATED on: June 09, 2007 10:39:21 AM
hey.. I have a friend who was going over things to make for another one of our friend's birthdays. She had the idea of making a bowl (pipe-type thing used to smoke out of) out of Sculpey. I was just wondering, do you think that would produce any harmful smoke or toxic stuff that you'd be breathing in if you tried to smoke out of it?

note: on the package it says to try not to inhale any of the steam produced while the clay is hardening in the oven.

me and her thought that those "harmful fumes" in the steam might just be a one time thing, while the moisture in the clay is rising out of it.

any comments/advice/ideas? THANKS!
5  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / homemade aviator goggles! on: May 22, 2007 12:55:30 PM
so my bestttt friend, Katie (same name Cheesy), is nicknamed Copilot, or Copilot Katie. I always told her one day I'd find/make her goggles and a hat to wear to vibes and other festivals. I found her a hat, and she loved it.

it's been forever since then, and it finally dawned on me what I should use to make the goggles!

first I took two jar lids:

and then I took two tops to the cupcake holder bin things (?) lol:

I cut the plastic lids to the right shape, and hot glued them into the jar lids.. drilled holes in the side of the lids.. and sewed a thing to keep it on. the end result:

those black things that are kinda in my eyes got glued down after this picture- you can't see them anymore.

it looks really really cool with the hat i found her, but i didn't get pictures of it :/

she LOVEEEES it Cheesy yay
6  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / crazycool coloured shelves on: May 09, 2007 06:37:00 PM
Sorry about all these posts- my computer broke during a creative-spree, and I couldnt post till now >.<

So we had a ton of broken shelves in my basement, along with old wood.

I took the fancy triange things under the shelves and made new tops for them- the originals were too broken to fix.

Then I made a couple boxshelf (?) type things.

Then me and my little sissy painted them cool colours.. yay (:

finished product:

real easy way to make old yicky coloured shelves match your room.

I thought of modge podging patterned scrapbook paper onto them, but I got lazy: just an idea if anyone wants to try.. if you do lemmie know how it turns out!
7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / enormous night shirt? turn it into a miniskirt :D on: May 09, 2007 05:14:43 PM
hmm well one time I told my grandma that I loveee pajamas (which I do) and ever since then, every present I've gotten from her have been Victoria Secret pajama sets- how sweet (:
but the tops that come in the set are horridly large.

..and yes- it deserves a big thumbsdown.

so a few cuts and stitches.. and voila!

hope you like it. It's incredibly simple and takes like an hour at the most. (:
8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / new messenger bag on: May 09, 2007 04:30:13 PM
hmm nothing special really, but I thought it turned out cute.
it's got all the basics: adjustable strap, velcro closure, and inside mini pocket.

cool new myspace shop logo.. and velcro... and cute fabric closeup- triple yay! Cheesy

9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / hearts and stars shortsleeve hoodie (: on: April 15, 2007 03:00:06 PM

believe it or not- I've been working on this since... ehh... about end of last september. idk
well anyway
this was originally long sleeved. but I accidentally made the sleeves too short.. for me anyway because I like my sleeves being really long and they barely hit my wrist idunno... so I turned it into a short sleever today. and there should be pockets but idk I felt like it didn't need pockets.

anyway here it is:

close up of the fabric.

comments/critiques welcome.
oh, and questions.. those are always fun (:
10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / extrascinivaleychokeskanovalify your candles :D on: April 02, 2007 06:55:49 PM
I asked my brother a word that means really cool so I could could add "ify" to the end. That's what he said to me. (:

anyway, I made these at christmas time for a few friends who love candles as much as I do. (way to procrastinate, kate!)

anyway they were super easy to make, even though a little time consuming if you want them to look good.

so basically, you take a dull pencil and scratch patterns into the cheap 10 cent candles from walmart. Then you take acrylics and paint into the scratched indents in the candle with a tiny brush.

and that's it Cheesy
super easy/cheap gift idea. my friends LOVEEEDDD them. one actually just has them on a shelf and refuses to burn them 'cauz they're so cool. lol

hope you like, and hope it gives you good ideas for presents or just for around the house decorations (:
