1  Recycled Magazines: Mini Trash Bins/Storage Containers in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by piggySTY on: January 01, 2008 01:12:21 AM
Now that the holidays are over, I'm sure all of us have stacks and stacks of holiday catalogs and magazines that are completely useless to us. My family has a tradition of sitting down together to make mini trash bins for the new year. We use them mainly for food scraps (nut/seed shells, edamame shells, fish bones, etc.) but they're also good for storing other odds and ends. These little containers also double as a nice tabletop decoration (especially if you use colorful catalogs!)

Here are the containers in action

Here they are stored (one of the containers can be used to hold all the others):

Let's stay GREEN this new year!

If anyone wants a tut, I'll be glad to draw one out...just let me know =)

2  Chinese Stone Seals in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by piggySTY on: March 06, 2006 10:21:27 PM
I haven't posted a project onto craftster in over a year (!!!) and I thought it was about time to come back.

I was recently commissioned to carve a Chinese stone seal for a couple I met at a multi-cultural fair & here's the end result:

The characters are the phonetic translation of "Irene" into Chinese & the actual size is a bit smaller than the photo shown.

Hope you like it! =)

8  Chinese Knotting::Turtle Keychain in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by piggySTY on: August 12, 2005 11:25:41 PM
A friend of mine taught me Chinese Knotting just a couple days ago ... after a long while of being terribly confused, I managed to make a turtle keychain!

isn't it adorable! (both these pix are *ACTUAL* size)

"help me get up!"

**We're hoping to sell these to help pay for costumes, fans, props, etc. for a Chinese dance assembly @ our school ...so I need everyone's honest opinion--
1. Would you buy it?
2. How much should we sell them for?

Thanks a bundle!

they're made from good 'ol printer paper attacked w/ sharpies. seriously---last year's summer school class was SNORE-IFICALLY BORING. so i decided to doodle and doodad and stink up the place w/ sharpies instead

here's one of the designs:

and the outside if you care to look:

(the b&w /turquoise ribbon one was made from wrapping paper)

NOT sure if i can get a tutorial up... cuz of copyright issues... we'll see.. maybe i'll just secretly pm them to people

haha how funny!

i had just made those a few min ago (but instead put seed beads on both sides -- dumb, dumb, dumb idea -- resulted in my finger being pricked a gazillion times) , but you beat me to posting them! haha  Lips sealed

I'll post a pic soon.

here are 2 shots:

about an inch long

i think i like your design better though. from now on -- bead only ONE side!
