1  Brother's 21st B-Day Cake in Dessert by Pick-N-Mix on: July 02, 2007 12:18:06 PM
So i decided for my Brother's 21st i would make his cake.
As he is an American Football player, i decided to base his cake on that theme.

Introducing the American Football Pitch cake.

With Candles

It's just a basic sponge cake with jam and cream in the middle.
I brushed green food colouring over ready-to-roll icing.
Then i paint on the lines with icing in a tube.
I attached icing footballs to the side using more icing.
The posts are made from cocktail stick covered in duct tape.

He loved it!

Comments appreciated!
Thank you.

2  History of Punk GCSE Dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Pick-N-Mix on: April 22, 2007 04:06:10 AM
For my GCSE textiles course we were asked to make anything we wanted.
Well, i have a passion for punk and dresses, so i combined those two loves and got...

Detail of corset

Close-up of gathering and kilt pin

Pictures are transferred onto fabric using image maker & words are stencilled on using fabric paint.

Close up of bottom of skirt stitching (sorry about the blurriness)

I used the butterick B4254 pattern for the corset - which i modified- and the simplicity 5403 circle skirt pattern.

Hope you like.
Comments/criticism etc.

[Edit: I should add that all the images are of icons/bands from the Punk era (including Vivienne Westwood (my inspiration), Sex Pistols etc). The stencilled words are all lyrics from 'well-known' Punk songs.]

3  Super Duper Reversible Apron in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Pick-N-Mix on: August 23, 2006 04:16:38 AM
I think this goes here...
This apron was made for one of my 'Textiles' projects at school.
(I do GCSE Textiles)
The theme was 'Stars in their eyes and hearts on their sleeves':

It is a black and white gingham cotton fabric on one side with a pink- striped heart pocket and tie/trim.

And the other side is the pink-striped fabric with a black and white gingham pocket and tie/trim.

So whatcha think?!

Love & junk.

4  Help on first recon. I'm a newbie. >.< in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by Pick-N-Mix on: May 28, 2006 08:40:52 AM
Hey all.
Just started on my very first recon. but i have run out of inspiration.

I purchased this hideous black dress from a charity shop a couple of years ago for a halloween outfit.
I found it the other day in the back of my wardrobe && decided it needed bringing back to life.

Front view (Note that i cut the neckline)

Back view

Any tips on creating a fun, original && creative dress on a budget of scrap materials && other random sewing materials?!

Thanks xoxo
