41  Tiny Embroidered Quilt in Needlework: Completed Projects by hokiekate on: November 08, 2006 10:01:19 AM
I made this using the scrap squares leftover from some Jordy-type bags.    As you can see, my embroidery is severally limited by my drawing skills. This looks like something a five-year-old would draw.  I was able to practice some stitches, though, and use up some scraps at the same time.  I used split stitch, stem stitch, chain stitch and ye olde back stitch.

Here's my blue craft.  Blue on the inside and the outside! Wink

43  Re: DIY Kit Swap Round Six - October 2006 in The Swap Gallery by hokiekate on: November 02, 2006 11:38:28 AM
Here are some onesies that I embroidered using the awesome embroidery kit I got from Plath.  They were made for a brand new baby I know.  His name starts with the letter "D", so I made sure he had some other friends whose name also started with "D".

It was my first time using iron-on stabilizer, which gave me a few problems at first, but I worked it out eventually.  Thanks again for the awesome kit!

OK, first I must apologize.  I received two great kits in the midst of an awful stomach bug.  I didn't post pictures in a timely manner and I didn't thank my swappers enough due to general misery.  So, now is my chance!!!

First up is this awesome embroidery kit from Plath:

It has Sublime Stitching patterns, iron-on stabilizer, what I assume are tea towels (I've never seen one that I know of!), an embroidery hoop, a transfer pen, embroidery needles, embroidery floss, and printed out examples of different stitches.  SO MUCH STUFF!!!  If I wasn't laid up in bed feeling miserable I certainly would have started a project by now.  Thank you so, so much.

Next is this fabulous recon t-shirt kit from Elphalba:

It contains a t-shirt in autumn-y colors, ribbon for embellishing, a rockin' book on how to reconstruct t-shirts, and a sweet little note.  I know I'm going to have to read through that whole book before I decide how to cut into that shirt!  Thank you, Elphalba.  Even though you're a Cavalier, you're OK in my book Wink.

45  Bunnies as Party Favors in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by hokiekate on: October 02, 2006 03:12:12 AM
Saturday was my son's first birthday party and I made these bunnies as party favors for his little baby friends.  They're made out of felt and scrap cotton and have plastic in their ears to make them all crinkly and fun to play with.

46  My New Fall Diaper Bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by hokiekate on: September 19, 2006 12:27:35 PM
I decided that I needed a pretty, new diaper bag for fall and this is what I came up with:

The outside is pieced and quilted.  This inside has four, large quilted pockets for diapery/kid stuff, and a small zippered pocket and cell phone pocket for my stuff.  It has an adjustable strap, a flap closure with magnetic snap, and a zippered closure on top (thus making the flap redundant).  I'm very happy with how it turned out and have already used it numerous times.

Here is my red craft:

A friend's mom requested some red and purple bags for the ladies in her chapter of the red hat society.  This is my first attempt.

I received from batgirl last weekend and am only now posting.  I'm sorry, batgirl!  I had a really hard time taking pictures - jewelry is hard!!!

First, it came in this really nice box:

And inside was this beautiful necklace that I can't get a good picture of:

Batgirl, if you have a better picture, feel free to post it.

Also, I wanted to post this little bunny I made.  Rosali sent me some purplish wool felt for me to make some plushies out of and this is what I came up with:

I made three more to use as favors for my son's first birthday party.  Thanks again, Rosali!

49  Reversible Fabric Headbands - with TUTORIAL LINK in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by hokiekate on: September 04, 2006 07:34:06 AM

I came up with this method for making fabric headbands and decided to try my hand at a tutorial.  It's my first, so I would really appreciate any constructive criticism you have to offer.

The tutorial is hosted on my blog.

If you decide to try making one, I would really like to see a picture of it here!

Little orange quilted monster.  The quilting is supposed to be variations on the letter "M" (for monster).  I call him Mel Wink.
