Thanks for posting this. It combines my crochet and bellydance, my two major addictions! I want to make this belt in a cotton yarn, do you think one of those little skeins of Sugar n' Cream in each color would be enough? (I'm asking before I go to the store, because I don't have much money, and I don't want to overbuy.) I'm making my costume in black, with red, purple, and gold accents. When I (finally) get it finished, I'll post pics!

It took me a little over  2/3 of a skein of each color I used. (I used 2 colors.) So I used the larger skeins of the Red Heart Super Saver yarn. So I'm not sure how that would translate into the cotton yarn. I would probably get 2-3 skeins of each color.

I also belly dance and make costumes.
Here is a bra I made for my teacher.  I was rather proud to see her in it on a flyer around town.

That's gorgeous! You did a fantastic job!!! I've only made one bra. It was one week of HELL! I'm super proud of it though! Bras are quite an undertaking!

That is absolutely beautiful!  May I share this with other dancers that I know?  I dance but I do not crochet. Fortunately my mom does.  You could also crochet little bells and other jingly-jangly things to the belt too, no?  What a great idea! Thanks for sharing. Smiley

HECK YES!!! I tried doing custom belts as a business, but found it to be a tedious undertaking... So if you know people who are interested in making it by all means share it with them! I just want credit for creating the pattern!

The 'repeat pattern' refers to repeating the rows to make each flower pattern complete. So doing rows 2-5 makes a flower complete, and 6-9 is another complete flower [the 2nd sets of flowers sit between the 1st set]. So then work in 10-12 which are repeats of 6-8 and stop there! Go back to the top of the pattern and start doing the front 2 panels [right and left]. Coz once you then finish those you get the 'top half' of the bolero, and then you'll continue it - the Body - by joining up the right-back-left.

So, just to clarify... (b/c I'm a little retarded) We basically just repeat rows 1-9 again???
