1  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Discussion and Questions / spoiling my little house guest on: November 19, 2007 09:58:25 AM
Hello! I recently wound up with a chinchilla for a house guest. He's a devious little poo-machein, but I'd like him to enjoy his couple of months with me. Anyone hve any ideas for something I could make him that he might enjoy? i know their sensetive little buggers, so I'm afraid to just experiment.
2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / My Favorite Webcomics swap? on: November 13, 2007 08:31:18 AM
I thought this could be a fun way to 1) get some cool swag related to one of the many webcomics I love, 2) get other people to try out some of my favorite webcomics, and 3) find some cool new webcomics!

I figure that since webcomics are free, and usualy fast to read (ok, some of the realy old ones have some pretty extensive archives, but still), this could be fun. I dont realy want to have to buy and read a whole book for a swap, I just dont have that kind of time! Anybody interested?
3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / no-postoffice-neccisary paperdoll swap? on: November 06, 2007 11:09:01 AM
So, I miss crafster, but my time is super-limited.

I was thinking..for those who like drawing, or computer-art, or collage, or whatever, that a print-it-yourself paperdoll swap might be fun. We could even do a circle sort of swap.

The idea would be for everyone to draw some sort of little person-y, doll type thing, and post it online, mabey even with a little bio of said doll. Then people could download it, and either print it, or make it a little outfit on the computer, or whatever else. Then they could upload their creation. This way, people could get outfits fr their doll from multiple people, AND at the end, everybody could potentialy have acces to everyone elses creations. We could make a photobucket acount or something, and everyone in the swap could download everyone elses creations.

Would anyone be interested? For me, the worst part of the last swap I was in we getting to the @#%$#$ post office!
4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Great resource for offbeat brides! on: August 17, 2007 10:01:48 PM
Its not crafting exactly, but its got a lot of good ideas- its a real inspiration!

I just picked up "OffBeat Bride" by Ariel Meadow Stallings. Its a great book- it details her total wedding planning experience- from engagement to past the wedding, and talks about other "off-beat" weddings shes heard about. If you want to go non-traditional, you realy ought to pick it up. Its inspiring me to rethink quite a bit about my wedding! Its all very budget-concious, and honest, and theres something in every paragraph to make you snicker.

thats all Smiley
5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / leather bookmark wedding favors? on: August 17, 2007 01:57:29 PM
Hi all! I've been wracking my brain for something to use as a wedding favor that will be 1) inexpensive, 2) usefull, 3) thematicaly appropriate and 4)not very time consuming.

our theme is sort of a litterary thing...sonnets for vows, quotes on tables and such. So I was thinking....bookmarks?

but I want them to be realy classy bookmarks. I'd love to use leather. There are some places near me where i can get very large hides for very little money, in a variety of colors. But the question becomes- how to decorate them? If I werent doing 75 of them, I'd tool them, but I am. I'd love to put some sonnets on them- something short and sweet. But a bookmark isnt something a boy will shy away from takeing.

So- sugestions for fast, inexpensive ways to decorate leather? NOTE- both of us have AWFUL handwriting.

6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Love-my-job-hate-my-office swap on: June 28, 2007 10:03:31 AM
Is Corporate decorating killing anyone else?

I just got a great new job with my very own office. My very own ugly as sin office. Blue/grey mottled carpet, no windows, shades of beige acrilic target art. Silk fern. The works.

The boss has givn me permission to punch the place up a bit- but i figure- I cant be the only one!

And i was thinking- we may not be able to recon file cabinets for each other, but there are a lot of little things that could realy bring an office to life! mouspads, modest wall art, mugs, pen holders, staplers, file holders, day planners, signs, magnets, candy jars (or boxes- for that secret stash  Wink ), little boxes for fubber bands and staplers..the list goes on and on.

We could all post a picture of out troubled workspace, and talk a little about what we need, whats acceptable in our workplace (obviously people would need to play carful attention to this! There are some things you cant get away with in every office), and what our asthetic is like.

So many jobs these days require an office, even if its not the only place you work- anyone else interested in getting a craftster infusion for their workplace?
7  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / i want to dabble in perfume on: June 22, 2007 06:44:18 PM
Ok, so I keep looking over te Black Alchemy website, looking at the descriptions of their scents and going "oh! thats so cool! I bet that smells great! But I wish it had more ______ and didnt have ________".

I actualy did order one from them, and it was good, but too musky for me.

Which got me thinking- it could be realy fun to make my own scents. I've got a good nose, and lots of ideas, and a FI that might be interested (not to mention 4 bridesmaids that will need to be spoiled).

But, i dont have much space, and I dont want to spend a lot of money. Is there any way to dabble in this? I realy dont know whats involved.... I especialy like foodish smells...fruity ones. I'd love to get exotic about it, but i wouldnt know if thats feasable.

So, folks, where would a newbie begin? Is this even possible?

PS- yes I did search before posting, but i got 25 pages back, so I may have missed what I'm looking for. If so, I appologize.

9  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Completed Projects / Digis :) on: May 17, 2007 08:58:17 PM
I'm sorry I've been gone for so long! I promice to go through and pay up in comments soon!

So..here are a few of my recent pages!

A few notes- their all digital. They dont have journaling becuase they get insierted into my printed lj, next to the corresponding post.

More to come after class tomorow. i love digital layouts. i can scrap right during lecture!

Dads surprise 57th birthday party. He was so shocked! I dont know what it is, but parties at Fridays make me want to black, white, and red. I guess its becuase the backgrounds always turn out dark, and they give you red, black and white baloons.

and heres a page dedicated to a a very unique friend of mine. This one took me FOREVER becuase I couldnt figure out how to bring all these elements together.

sugestions are still welcome.

And here is a little quicky dedicated to well...a very good day for locks of love. 14 inches. Such a great excuse for a realy realy girly layout.

10  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Completed Projects / scrapbook pages with a nudity warning? Its not that bad... on: February 19, 2007 04:22:50 PM
Its realy not so dirty. My hubby and I do some nude modeling from time to time with a talented photographer we know. So, naturaly I'll have to scrap it! I wonder if I'm gonna get booted off my other scrapping forum for posting these...its rather full of suburban soccer moms. Not that all suburban soccer moms are the same..but you know the ones I'm talking about. I took the pictures on the first page, he took the pictures on the second page. I realy like the first one..but pulling together Matts work isnt easy! Sugestions open on page 2.

Oh, by the by, none of his pics are doctored in photoshop. he just has us hold realy, realy realy still for intermidable lengths of time while he leaves the shutter open and paints with a variety of odd flashlights. That was the bottum 2, anyways, not the top two. As always, no journaling becuase these pages go into my journal.

here ya go! comments adored!

oh yeah, all pics used with full permission of models and the photographer!
