2  Digis :) in Scrapbooking: Completed Projects by goldfishhead on: May 17, 2007 08:58:17 PM
I'm sorry I've been gone for so long! I promice to go through and pay up in comments soon!

So..here are a few of my recent pages!

A few notes- their all digital. They dont have journaling becuase they get insierted into my printed lj, next to the corresponding post.

More to come after class tomorow. i love digital layouts. i can scrap right during lecture!

Dads surprise 57th birthday party. He was so shocked! I dont know what it is, but parties at Fridays make me want to black, white, and red. I guess its becuase the backgrounds always turn out dark, and they give you red, black and white baloons.

and heres a page dedicated to a a very unique friend of mine. This one took me FOREVER becuase I couldnt figure out how to bring all these elements together.

sugestions are still welcome.

And here is a little quicky dedicated to well...a very good day for locks of love. 14 inches. Such a great excuse for a realy realy girly layout.

3  scrapbook pages with a nudity warning? Its not that bad... in Scrapbooking: Completed Projects by goldfishhead on: February 19, 2007 04:22:50 PM
Its realy not so dirty. My hubby and I do some nude modeling from time to time with a talented photographer we know. So, naturaly I'll have to scrap it! I wonder if I'm gonna get booted off my other scrapping forum for posting these...its rather full of suburban soccer moms. Not that all suburban soccer moms are the same..but you know the ones I'm talking about. I took the pictures on the first page, he took the pictures on the second page. I realy like the first one..but pulling together Matts work isnt easy! Sugestions open on page 2.

Oh, by the by, none of his pics are doctored in photoshop. he just has us hold realy, realy realy still for intermidable lengths of time while he leaves the shutter open and paints with a variety of odd flashlights. That was the bottum 2, anyways, not the top two. As always, no journaling becuase these pages go into my journal.

here ya go! comments adored!

oh yeah, all pics used with full permission of models and the photographer!

4  a new use for a plastic sword, and other visual stories in Scrapbooking: Completed Projects by goldfishhead on: February 16, 2007 04:22:24 PM
hey there! I few new pages.

First...do you remember the "share your mess...then lets clean it up!" thread here on craftster? Well, I scrapped my "before" and "after" pics. Only the before isnt actualy so beforeish....its realy more mid-way. Though...it was certainly no cleaner before I started.

While were talking about redecoration, look at the new use I found for a plastic toy sword! This is me, peeling wallpaper off my fiances parents home bathroom. I have hated that wallpaper for 10 years. It was white vynel with crimson, black and silver faux paint splatters. Yay 80s! only not. Sadly, it was only mid 90s. Anyways, the sword was the only way we could get back behind the toilet.

And here, at last, is my pack from the Sabbat LARP. This one took me forever to figure out. pay no mind to the skewed brad in the corner there.

And, the last one is Drew. Its going to have the quote "Bugger it all, another critical failure" on it, and mabey a green robot like the one on Ms Greives Valentines layout (well, hers is red, but same idea). opinons?

comments unabashedly begged for Wink

I'm sorry if I've shown any of these before...it gets hard to keep track! Oh, and several of these pages are dedicated to one of my freinds. It lists their lj, and full name. I got their permission to post these online...but please dont stalk them or anything.

CONvergance. I love that convention.

(another goldfish funeral, I'm afraid. layers galore went into this one)

the first xmas my family and my inlaws spent together. We made that ugly-ass cake togther.

Comments welcome as always! also, All these pages are digital, though sometimes the papers werent. Yay scanners.

6  Help! its just plain ugly! in Scrapbooking: Discussion and Questions by goldfishhead on: November 25, 2006 05:12:37 PM
Ok, so last winter/spring I was in a Sabbat LARP. I got to be an art-deco style gargoyle (I felt kind of like a lamp, but in a good way). Anyways, I'm trying to scrapbook my ever-so-spooky vampire pack, but the layout is just...well....ugly. I dont know what to use or where to put my pictures. The paper keeps scanning weirdly, and its just not comeing together. I'll post what I've got. the only thing that needs to stay the same is the actual pictures. Any and all ideas appreciated.

oh, and we started up a brand new digital scrapbooking community on lj if anybody is interested.

7  Zombies on parade...with pirates! in Scrapbooking: Completed Projects by goldfishhead on: November 06, 2006 07:21:44 PM
Somehow I've ended up with alot of zombie and pirate themed activities this year. Some of you might have seen my pirate anniversary at the MN ren fest page a while back.

Somewhat less glamorous, here is our celebration for Talk Like a Pirate Day. We have a picture here of 4 pirates. though our lusty crew consisted of 5 pirates in total- Lisa wasn't there yet. We had authentically stolen British tea, and sharp cheese on stale crackers. mmm. Mark you calendars, those of you who missed it! September 19th.

More recently, heres Halloween. Zombie-themed. I'm the one on the far left, dressed as a trick-or-treater who has been freshly zombified. Yes, the pumpkin on the left is an ang-o-lantern. The avatar state is scary! I cant take credit for that one though...it belongs to the second zombie from the right and the second zombie from the left. My and the final zombie pictured carved the butt-ugly pumpkin in the front. We specifically set out to find an ugly pumpkin, and make him all zombie-ish. bonus that he rotted some! I'm proud of having made the "paper" myself, from a picture taken inside the pumpkin as we carved it.

And finally, Heres a picture from the Zombie Preparedness Initiative, Edina Contingent, from out panel on long-term survival of the zombie Apocalypse. That was at CONvergance 2006 (a huge, awesome scifi/fantasy/horror/anime/comics/whatever convention in the twin cities). Note the spiffy fruit basket I have in the second picture. That was generously given to us, just before the panel, from the Vampire Hunters Guild who were also present. There were public relations photos taken, but somehow i didn't end up possesing any of those.

I think that these pages are done, but I am very much up for crit.

comments please!!!!

8  help! in Scrapbooking: Discussion and Questions by goldfishhead on: October 11, 2006 11:51:18 AM
I havent been able to scrap in a while, and last night, as i was trying, it just wasn't comeing. I tried to work on this page, of my mom. I like the paper, and this is the ONLY possible picture (took me 2 months to get her to let me take it). And i think I like the font and the swirly overlay (the blue loopy thing). But its missing something, isnt it?

I'd realy welcome some ideas about how to jazz this page up, without loosing the bits i like.

in case it helps- my mom is sort of crafty, in a flower and mozaic kind of way. I think this layout shows her asthetic pretty well. Shes realy low key, and not the least bit sentimental. Shes got a realy dry sence of humor, which kind of disturbes some people. We're pretty close.

Youknow, trying to make one scrapbook page, trying to sum up someone you know realy well, is pretty hard. But i think it gets even harder when their artists to- i want to keep true to their asthetics.

9  Re: Share your Mess...Then let's clean it up! in Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions by goldfishhead on: September 19, 2006 09:24:23 PM
At last! its done! its taken us all this time, but I'm loving the whole apartment so much more now. I'm even willing to overlook the mouse and cricket problems. My studio area is also our livingroom, dining room, and office. so, here are my before and after pictures! Starting with the widest view:

sadly, this isn't even a "before" pic. This is AFTER we added more storage (like that white shelf) and reorganized the furnitre.

And after! This is my favorite. That cityscape there? a shower curtain from Target we cut down to size. Its canvas, not plastic.  Notice that little coffeytable there? Its an Ikea peice. Exactly the right size for my comic paper, with a build in, sliding cloth drawer inside, perfect for holding all my erasers, pencils, and fancy pants pens.  But, the BEST thing about the table is that the top slides. So that I don't need to take everything off the table to get at whats inside.

The tall white drawer on the left there was a new addition to. The top drawer is for uncut scrapbook paper (which is most of it, since i usually just scan them). the second is for other paper and scrapbooking stuff (tools, cut paper, letters, embellishments). The third drawer is the perfect size for my big ol collection of prismacolor markers, and the fourth is for my unfinished bjd from scratch project. The last drawer is chibi_evils sculpty supplies.

AND I added this:

for my chibi_evil. her own desk area, since she actually uses chairs and things. and now we've stopped losing bills! yay!! that table was over by the door before.

Now, the hutch was basically all chibi_evil, not me. but look how much nicer it is! Before:

and after!

And, her work again, Before:

and after:

But, the door area was mostly me. Getting these shelves for the shoes, and moving the chair (to the kitchen) helped so much. We just couldn't resist dropping stuff on that chair, and we never sat on it! I plan on putting the mittens and things into a basket or cool looking box over there, and putting a few other necessities on the shelf, so theres no room to stack stuff.

like i said. I'm done! finally!

whew. Next stop- the bedroom!
