1  Re: 2 Hour (or less) Santa Hat in Knitting: Completed Projects by anneland22 on: December 20, 2007 09:34:08 AM
LUV it. I just finished one for the hubby who loves rich purples. It feels kinda bif pimpin'. Wink It took just under 2 hours. He has a huge head - 25" and my gauge on us11 is a little smaller (closer to 3sts/in) - so I cast on 60. I used lamb's pride bulky and some fur - all from the stash. It did take just under 2 hrs even with the higher stitch count. Thank you for posting and for sharing! It was just in time too since he needed it for today and I am on my way out to deliver it.

I am going to make another with a red brim and black body for my little bro who is a musician - i figure that it will serve him well for gigs next winter.

2  Super Quick Misti Alpaca Scarf in Knitting: Completed Projects by anneland22 on: December 18, 2007 11:28:16 PM
We have been giving this pattern out like mad as people buy us out of this fantastic yarn.

I finally made one out of a ball of blue that I have had in my stash for a while to give as a teacher gift.

It takes between 1.5 to 2 hrs (i was not timing very accurately) and only uses up one ball of this luscious but pricey stuff.

The original pattern calls for US13, but the store sample was knit on US15 to make the yarn go further. I made this one on US17 to try pushing it even further but I don't think that it really made much difference. It should have stopped with the 15's.

This one is cute but the ones that peeps have been making in the new handpainted Misti are somewhat more fun.

I am just happy to have finished this in time and am glad that I have found something quick top make for my SIL who is hard to gift for.

3  Teacher gifts completed in Winter Holidays by anneland22 on: December 18, 2007 11:14:16 PM
I whipped these gifts out today.

I was going to make his teachers matching scarves in a shade of the school color, blue. I was bemoaning in my head about how I hate putting time in or choosing a gift for someone that I do not really know well. Then I realized that I did know that the main teacher really likes to cook and brings that into her lessons often.

The potholders are for my son's main teach.
I found this double sided prequilted fabric as I was trying to think of a cooking oriented gift. I am still uncertain of whether or not she will love the color choice, but I love it - you could basically sell me fabric with anything going on as long as it is in this color scheme.

I have also made some following their lead and using a pair of my favorites as a  template.

It took one fat quarter worth of fabric, felt as an inner lining, and foamies doubled as the sole. (I spent a lot of time thinking what kind of sole would wear for a satisfying amount of time and be easily accessible.)

I still need to make its mate. This one was mostly hand sewn because I had to add the binding since I accidently cut it out of the template with no seam allowances. The next will mostly be machine sewn, using the lining to finish the inside edge.
Here are a preview of the material for my next 3:

Thanx for looking.
Happy needling and etc.
