1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / The Romper of My Dreams on: October 04, 2011 11:02:16 AM
Several months ago I had a dream I was at a store and I saw a romper with a black sweetheart top and ugly/pretty floral bubble shorts.  When I woke up I thought "Hm... it's not stealing the design if I DREAM it..."

It has pockets!!!!

It took me a while to find the right fabric but I'm pretty pleased with it!  I think I'm going to make more with different fabrics and maybe sleeves.  *oh my!*

It was also my first attempt at draping.  I've always been scared but after checking out a few how-to videos it's surprisingly easy.  The top is a pattern I've used before and the shorts are 100% draped.  Here you can see the pleating details of the front and back..

later kittens,

3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Rosette Shimmer Top on: January 25, 2011 11:56:48 AM
I bought this oversized shimmery knit t-shirt over two years ago and from the day I bought it I knew exactly what I wanted it to look like:

Here is my before:

And some litte details...

The rosettes and pleats were all made and attached with my glue gun so it was super easy and fast to make.  I'll post some action pictures when I take some.

I'm so excited to wear it!

Vader appoved!

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Dot dot brocade skirt on: November 08, 2010 07:52:29 PM
I was lucky enough to attend New York Fashion Week this past September.  While I was there I checked out Mood Fabrics, as seen on Project Runway, and picked up this UH-mazing silk brocade.  And I made a pretty skirt.

It's hard to tell but the dots have a metallic, embossed effect, which is so fab.  I used a regular pencil skirt pattern and added the peplum skirt myself.

Hope you likes.

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Leopard Dress with HEART POCKETS! on: September 09, 2010 08:25:09 PM
Can we talk about how much I love heart pockets and leopard print?!

I'm a big fan.

Thanks, babies.
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / XXL tee? Problem solved... BRAND NEW style. on: April 02, 2008 06:50:26 PM
I took my friend to her first concert ever last December, Brand New with Thrice and Mewithoutyou. *swoons*  Of course after the show the moment must be memorialized by buying a BN shirt. I'm sure all you concert-goers have had this problem that you waited to the end of the show and the only sizes left are XXL.  My friend was going to give up but I was like, "Honey, we're craftsters." We bought the very last to of this screen they had.

Here's what they looked like before we hacked 'em.

This is what we did to my friend's shirt. Kinda simple just a long sleeve hoodie combo.

And this is my shirt.

I basically cut it to ribbons then arranged the squares.  Pinned them and used the machine to sew a sort of grid lengthwise and widthwise. I'm pretty happy with how they both came out.

Hopefully this gives you some snazzy ideas. I've been making stuff like nobody's biz-ness, hopefully I'll get the rest posted.

Thanx for the lookie-loos.

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Alice is sooo jealous of me right now. on: July 23, 2007 11:10:39 PM
Alice of Wonderland that is.

Oh well.

This was my very first attempt at knitting.  I was inspired by the cover of the knit.1 magazine, V-day issue. I finished it in about a month, last February, I've just been too lazy to post it sooner.  Yeah, now that I'm well into 2 new knitting projects.

Oh yes, like I need a new crafty thing... but it's just so awesome...

well Huzzah to knitting.

much love.
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / easy easy EASY Recon. anyone can do!-T-shirt recon on: May 21, 2007 08:25:11 PM
If you can do a running stitch you can make a really awesome shirt.
I had this fancy cowboy shirt that was far too big. Two weeks and lots of green thread later I had a fan-tastic new shirt.

...in the middle of a gunfight...

I sewed the gi-mungo shirt onto a shirt that already fit me. So if you have shears and a needle you can whip this baby up too.
I like to play with the positioning of graphics, it's kinda hard to tell but I made the strips slightly askew.

Good stuff.
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Now I have something to wear while playing Guitar Hero, ho-ya! (plenty o' pics!) on: October 10, 2006 07:59:57 AM
Right, so I've been driving cross-country all last month.  And among the countless diners and Days-Inns we also made many a stop into the local thrift joints.

I picked up this sweet little star-clad number in Ventura, California.  Also in Ventura was this lovely little hipster boutique in which I fell in love with a fresh little tank dress sporting some wide stripes.  I was tickled by the dress but not by it's price tag (what can I say I'm cheap, and on a vacation budget).  Once I got home I remembered I had this sh-wankay guitar t-shirt (pictured  Cool) and I thought "Aha!"  For those of you who recall it: I bought the guitar shirt at TJ Maxx on clearance for like $3 the same time I bought the green shirt with the owl that I made a tunic outta.(https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=103577.0)

Anyway  I made a dress myself, hope you can dig it:

The "stars" of the show (ha ha)

Details details...

Got it? Cool. Thanks for the looks.
Oh, and *claps for you* if you read all that backstory, you rock!
10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / "I promise you stars." on: September 05, 2006 08:13:32 PM
My friend moved to Portland, Oregon for college and left us all behind here in Boston.  I wanted to make her some special things to remember me.

One of the things I've been making a lot of are these stars out of jewerly wire and beads.  I'm planning on making a garland of them to hang across my bedroom window.  So many hours of spending time with tiny beads and pliers.  But I was able to part with one to give to Liz.

This is what it looks like hanging.

On flat surface.

The web style stars run about 5" across.  I also made for her the trademark craftster.com dino hoodie, and a little elephant plushie.

She loved everything I made her.
