21  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Verb Swap Gallery on: December 27, 2006 11:27:00 AM
So I recieved a package from my angel Polkaroo a few weeks ago, but I haven't been able to take any pictures until now. Everything Polkaroo sent me was amazing! And just my style!

My verb was to dance.

First, there was a set of four ballerinas which I promptly hung on my tree. They are so cute and I will definatly find somewhere else to hang them in my room once the tree is down! (I think these were my favorite thing in the package!)

(Everything came with these cute little tags hanging on them!)

Then there was a beautiful necklace and a pair of earrings. I love the colors! My mother was with me when I opened them up and she tried to take the necklace from me!

(No picures of them on... I haven't showered or changed yet.)

There was also a very cute bag (made from a felted sweater, yes?). The lining fabric has a bunch of ballet terms and stick figure dancers showing what they are. I love it!

(Sorry it's hard to see!)

And then she even included a little stuffed mouse for my cat Bailey (who is very, very picky about cat toys and LOVES this.) I couldn't get a close-up of the toy because it's currently MIA but I did get some of Bailey playing with it.

THANK YOU again Polkaroo!!

This looks like a good one to start with and then add a little nutmeg. I'm going to have to make some! Yum!

Connecticut State Cookies...

If the oatmeal chocolate drop cookie with a dash of nutmeg gets final legislative approval, it will take its place next to the state animal (the sperm whale), the state mineral (the garnet) and the state tartan (a blue, gray, green, red and yellow plaid).

Designating a state cookie would not be unprecedented. New Mexico has biscochitos, and chocolate chip is the state cookie of both Massachusetts and Pennsylvania. Massachusetts also has a state muffin, the corn muffin, and a state dessert, Boston cream pie.

The oatmeal chocolate drop cookie was the brain child of sixth-graders studying civics at St. Mary's School in Simsbury, who came up with three different variations and then asked their classmates to vote.

It's described in the bill as a cookie made from chocolate, oats, flour, eggs, butter, sugar and nutmeg. (For the record, though Connecticut is the nutmeg state and the state cantata is ``The Nutmeg,'' no one has yet designated nutmeg as the state spice.)

I'm looking for the recipe now!

Thanks everyone!

The shirt are my favorite... I'm currently making a few for the 4 month old I nanny for.

I think it's gorgeous! If I had a baby, I would want a quilt like that!

This was my very first swap, and I had a lot of fun creating a package for my partner FutureTrophyWife. I haven't heard from her (nor have I received anything from her) but I checked and she's received her package. So I wanted to share the photo's I took of my crafts.

Her verb was to laugh.

First I made her a purse with the cutest fabric ever - green polka dots with snails! It made me giggle in the fabric store, so I knew I had to use it.

Next, I made her a necklace. It has a blown glass pendent which is red with bursts of blue, yellow, and green. It looked to me as if someone had painted laughter into the glass. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of it.

And then I decorated three shirts for her baby daughter. Each has a different saying about laughter and ribbon trim.

and a close-up!

I also threw in some stickers with laughter quotes and some Laffy Taffy (one of my favorite candies).

29  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: 1960's mod dress pattern? on: August 20, 2006 09:07:58 PM
thanks for replying!

era vera:
I've been looking through the thrift stores, but I can never seem to find anything cool, like vintage patterns. But thank you! I'll keep my eyes open still.

I love that dress! I've seen it before, but had completely forgotten about it. And thanks for the links... not quite what I was looking for, but it's a start!

Thanks for the links, but I have no way of ordering things online. Unless I can get my boyfriend to do it for me. Hmm....

I just wanted to add, I pretty much just need a basic dress that I can work off of and make it suit my needs.

I just don't have the ability yet to take what I have in my head and make it work on paper and then fabric. But if I have something to work off of, I can change it and work it into what I want to have as the end result.
