521  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: My Edible Outfit: A dress made from fruit roll-ups on: May 28, 2006 01:43:58 PM
When I unrolled the roll-ups, I left the plastic backing intact and then stapled them together like a quilt. Then I stapled the outfit onto me (had a bit of help)! Does that make sense?

As the party heated up--literally--the roll-ups expanded and I needed to make a few extra pit-stops for restapling. And the whole thing did self-destruct at the end of the night (If you're curious, you can read the story here: http://thingsthatwouldkillmymother.blogspot.com/2006/05/eat-me-my-childhood-fantasy-has-come.html ) But it was still fun.

Oh, and thanks for the compliments! This is the first craft I've posted!

you stapled it onto your skin?

524  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: material on: May 26, 2006 05:49:47 PM
i would really reccomed ebay becuase you usually dont have to pay outrageous ammounts for shipping (even when its internationally) and you can get the fabric really cheap......and if you want to do a search for the "t-shirt fabric" search for "knit"....hope that helps!
525  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: a booo booo could be ooooh ooooh with YOUR help! Pimp my jumpertop! on: May 26, 2006 05:46:20 PM
ive seen many tops with the "underpants" lace on the sleeves and even the neck so i think it would look good.....and i recently learned how to do buttonholes and its quite easy.....read your manual for your sewing machine (unless you did this by hand....then button holes would be a bit hard) and practice on some scrap material.....trust me, once you know how to do it youll laugh at how easy it is

it will give you the basic shape of the dress and then you can easily make it shorter and take the flare out of the bottom and add pockets and d-rings and such
