1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Ironing wool? on: September 24, 2008 01:14:22 PM
I'm making a jacket out of 100% wool but it has ALOT of seams and i want it to all lay flat and look nice.  But i dont know if I can iron it or if so, what setting to put it on.  Our iron goes from 1-6 and 4-6 are "steam" settings (I suppose).   What do I do?

3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Do you know how to make a convertible dress? on: July 27, 2008 07:06:09 AM
That's an infinity dress and it's seriously the easiest thing in the world to make.  Don't spend $100 on it, i made mine for $15.
4  CLOTHING / Clothing Sewalongs / Re: bathing suit sewalong anyone? on: May 29, 2008 02:42:50 PM
I've actually become quite obsessed with swimwear in the past couple weeks.  I have around 50 different sketches and I can't help but draw more.  I'm hoping to make some of them this summer but I've never made a swimsuit before  Undecided

I've been looking all over the net for wild new swimwear styles for inspiration.  Anyone have any good sites?

i love it just the way it is!  but if you still want to add something i'd say add a 3-4 inch ruffle at the hem.  just please no ric-rac i can't stand the stuff.
7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Gold prom dress with real-fake diamond trim on: May 14, 2008 07:37:29 AM
This year, my friend had me make her dress from senior prom.  She picked out the pattern, fabric, and notions and I sewed it.  It's more of a skirt and top but we just called it a dress anyways.  It took FOREVER.  But she loved it so it was owrth it.  The top is boned and fully lined and the skirt has 8 panels that I pressed open and serged each side.  So i serged 18 seams on the skirt alone.  Which was a pain.  But the fabric frayed and I didn't want it to fall apart on her.  The straps/sleeves were my own design because she wanted her shoulders to be covered.  And there's a really fake diamond trim under the bust but you can't really see it in the pictures.  The trim was hand sewed and so was the skirt hem  Undecided.  The whole dress isn't really my style but it's what she wanted and I think it suits her style perfectly.

This was the pattern I used and I did the dress on the model on the left.
