1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Re: lovely handmade paper with lots of pics! on: January 29, 2007 01:11:45 AM
Cool!! I'm really interested in making paper at the moment. I've made a few pieces which were OK but I think I will start again with some new paper pulp because I added some dryer lint to my pulp which does give some nice little bits of coloured thread in the paper but what I didn't count on was how much hair would be in the lint! eeeww - I have long hair and it seems to turn up everywhere so I recommend using only lint from things such as brand new towels (the brighter the better).

Anyway very nice work!!

I like the idea of making clothes out of black bags - you could make any type of clothing (like practical or dress ups) and there are options for construction (like sewing, duct tape, lacing, knitting or crochet, weaving etc ) so there would be loads of variety ....

...you go to watch your partner play rugby and sit on the sidelines doing cross stitch ....then you figure he's 'the one' when he's not embarrassed but thinks it's quite cool....

...you go into a wallpaper shop and ask for any samples and walk out with a whole trolley load....you then have to ring the BF to pick you up cause well getting the stuff was more important than figuring out how to get it home....

....BF now not so sure what he's got himself into...12 years later (now Hubby) he happily builds shelves/cupboards to house junk ....hmm ....me thinks there was a craftster lurking under there all along....

once again I figure I'm a craftster because I am able to patiently simmer a pot of paper pulp for hours but could never be bothered making soup or stew for that long....

also I was thinking I'm pretty relaxed about people not believing I've made something but then I've never come across someone stupid enough not to know the difference especially when the faults are pointed out -
I was embarrassed once when I gave a workmate a little gift which I'd bought from a craft stall and she gushed "oh did you make this?" um............ be careful what you wish for !

I wish I knew how to do this - they look great - I am new to scrapbooking and I do more thinking and buying than actually doing ......digi seems like a safe way to start....

I figured I must be a craftster when I watched my son crying because I had mutilated a book to get the nice thick boards out to make my journal - if he had not seen the carnage he would never have known or cared but I figured craftster must have pushed me in a whole new direction ....coool

I really like these - I might have to make some for my kids rooms - I've always loved little shadow boxes and little scenes now I know what to do with some of those silly little toys that just get under my feet and don't get played with...

Thanks for that shazbot - and no I didn't go through photos just my cupboard'o'crap with which you are no doubt familiar - thanks for looking everyone - if I was to make another doll I would not use pipe cleaners because they are too flimsy but the basic concept is there - perhaps I will try another one ...hmmm
