42  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Painted/magnetized particle board CD storage tower on: June 25, 2006 03:17:45 PM
This is a CD storage rack/tower/thingie/whatever, it holds 500 CDs. I don't have a before picture but it's that particle board/laminate finish furniture, I think I got this thing at Target a few years ago. It was all a maple-y wood color. It was in good shape but dull so I decided to "fix it up" a bit and I like it a lot.

The sides/bottom are a very dark grey, I think the shade is called Mark Twain Grey Black. The top and front of the shelves is "banner red" and the shelves are black enamel. (with the borders heavily sanded, it looks sort of weird in the pics but I really like the way they look. )

I kind of want to paint something on the top but I can't decide....so right now it's just on there with double-sided tape.  Tongue

I used Rustoleum magnetic primer on the sides. These are a few of the U2 magnets I've made (with those printer sheets)  and I plan to make magnets with scans of all my saved concert ticket stubs for it.

*edited to reduce pic sizes a bit Smiley
43  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Should I take this sewing machine? (Riccar 7500) on: May 24, 2006 11:11:27 AM
Hello, I have been crafting quite a bit lately  Cheesy but have never sewn so much as a button.  Embarrassed We're in the process of cleaning out a sick relative's house and there's a sewing machine I can have, I'm wondering if I should take it and try to learn? It's a Riccar Model 7500, I think it says "Super Stretch". It works, been folded down into it's cabinet for a few years though.  Undecided

P.S. Sorry if this is not the right forum for my post.

45  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Re: What to do with plywood that I'm mounting my rastorbation on? on: May 13, 2006 11:13:13 PM
I'm planning to make a set of them and hang them in narrower wall spaces. We're painting the house a combination of green, orange, brown, and creme/white,  house still has a lot of the original interior from when it was built in 60s. Fabric does sound cool...would I just glue it to the border of the wood?

and thanks!  Cheesy
46  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / What to do with plywood that I'm mounting my rastorbation on? on: May 13, 2006 10:38:06 PM
Hello, I have been lurking here for awhile and finally made an account so I could post.  Cheesy I've been working on some rasterbations this weekend and am really stuck on one of them.  Undecided I don't have a pic of the actual rastorbation yet but here is the image I made it from. (Yes I made myself a giant lava lamp, lol). I have a piece of plywood to mount it on with an extra 1" of plywood on each side. I'm pleased with the way the rasterbation turned out but now I just cannot decide how to finish the plywood. I was thinking I could just paint it with brushes and acrylic paint (maybe red?), maybe just stain the wood, paint on some kind of patterned border, or decoupage something on? I have some really cool 60's ish wallpaper scraps but I'm afraid it will look too busy if I have a big pattern for a border. ack, help?

also, I wasn't sure if this was the right forum?
