1  Re: Whimsical Shrine Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Jen Sews on: November 15, 2014 08:44:19 AM
I am so sorry I dropped out of communication.  I have been very very depressed for a long time.  I am getting some new medication and therapy so hopefully I am on the upswing.  I couldn't stand the idea of being a flaker after so many successfully completed swaps so I sent a shrine more than a month late.  I am really ashamed of my behavior.  I am missing craftster a lot more than I thought I would.  I am not sure when I will be ready (if ever) to swap again but I wanted to publicly apologize and post my little shrine.

I recieved a great little monster today!! (Or yesterday? )  I forgot to check the mail.   It is about 2 inches square and already hanging up in my bedroom.  He is made in a great multicolored thread that is a little hard to see in the picture.   I absolutely adore his teeth, his colors, the fun rickrack, pretty much everything about him.  Thank you so much kittykill!!!!!!

Pioneer9 asked me to post pictures of what I sent.   So here goes!

I made a set of inchies from images from Dover pictura.

Then I drew some ATC monsters and painted them with watercolor.

I also made some minis with polymer clay.

What  I worked hardest on was an Artist Trading Block.  I wanted it to look vintagey and old time movie. I molded a polymer clay monster and scary feet for the bottom of the block.  I also cut out and folded tiny paper skyscrapers and used fun scrapbook paper to finish it up.    I really hope she likes it!

Pioneer9 sent me an amzing monster package!  I love all of it.

First an adorable set of plush guys and a magnet.  The monsters were immediately claimed by my 2 younger sons, who rarely like stuffed animals.  And the magnet went straight to the fridge where I can smile at him every day.

Next a sweet painting.  My oldest son claimed this one because he didn't get one of the plush guys.  He is very happy with it and took it to bed with him.  silly boys.

She also sent a set of inchies that I have fallen in love with and will have to find a way to display.  I need to get a cute frame or something.

And the grand finale is a mini art quilt that I am not letting anyone take away from me!  I love all the details and the hand applique!  It is also so bright and cheery!   Thank you very much!!!

6  Re: 14 Quilt Projects in 2014 Quilt Along! in Quilting: Discussion and Questions by Jen Sews on: January 12, 2014 10:49:59 AM
I finished making my first project quilting quilt.  "String Sunset" It is not at all traditional and it is hanging in my dining room window.  I feel very outclassed by the other entries but I am still happy with it.
I don't know how to post pictures from flikr  Sad But I managed to get it onto craftster so phew.   I combined a lot of thing I love into making this.  It has a rag edges and I washed it several times to help it start fraying.  I also love sunsets over the water and ever since I saw a stunning quilt top back lit  I have wanted to make something intended to be hung in a window. Since I am a mom of 3 small boys I feel proud of having accomplished anything!

10  Re: Mini Art Quilt Swap 7 Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by Jen Sews on: November 07, 2013 02:21:50 PM
Here is the quilt from my partner Crying Goddess.   It is made of felt and hand sewn with stuffing in the squares.  Thanks!

And here is the quilt I made for her.  My dh and I designed it in Auto Cad and I paperpieced it.  I also sewed clear beads along the light patterns.  This design was her top request and she requested the pastel rainbow.
