11  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Donnie Darko round 2 swap on: July 10, 2006 02:38:12 PM
I was going to suggest a donnie darko swap, then I noticed there already was one!! How about another round?? I wasnt a member yet or even knew about craftster when the first one came out, so, maybe we can do this a second time. I couldnt organize, but maybe some else will? Hopefully for August? Anyone else like this idea?

13  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Wallet/checkbook cover swap?? on: July 07, 2006 04:01:30 PM
Since people do coin purse swaps and now the purse swap and tote bag swaps... why not a wallet/checkbook cover/bifold swap? Where everyone makes each other, well, wallets and stuff lol. I think it'd be pretty neat to get a new wallet and make one for someone else. Mines about dead lol. Anyone else??
14  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / please look at this for me!! *Dont look RockWaterFalls, tho!!* on: June 30, 2006 01:03:30 AM
Ok, soo. I JUST started crocheting, like I said the other day. I finished the ciggy cozie I asked about. Now tho, Im just nervous on how it looks. I mean, I like it, of course I do it took me like 15 hours lol, but, do you guys like it? Would you be happy to recieve this? Or does it look too shoddy and I should start again? PLEASE let me know, be brutally honest lol

I know its uneven in areas, I laced it together on the sides and added a little bead covered in the yarn too to close it. It also can fit shorts or 100's. Maybe the bead is a no? I have velcro if that might be better. Anyhoo.. let me know please!!
15  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / help pretty, pretty please with sugar on top??? on: June 28, 2006 06:14:43 PM
Ok, I have never even touched a crochet hook till the day before ysterday. My best friend from MS sent me the Teach Yourself to Crochet kit by Boyle for my birthday, and I got it set in my brain that I want to make one of my swap partners a crocheted ciggy cozy. After I FINALLY figured out how to get the stitches right ( I kept winding up with a triangle shaped piece, each row kept getting smaller and I didnt know why heh) I have THIS...

Now Im stumped. How do I go on? Like I said, Ive never done this before ever.. Do I keep going till I get a long piece, then sew it up on one side and then do a bottom and flap? Or, do I made seperate sides and bottom and flap, then sew them together? Any advice will be mucho appreciated! Also, as simple as you can, bc I dont know any real terms, but, I do have my handy book here to help me out heh. I just REALLY want to do this!! Thanks!!!!!!!!
16  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / This is what happens when I get depressed... on: June 28, 2006 04:38:14 PM

My husband left for a month for training, then he'll be back 2 weeks then off to Iraq for 6-8 months. I got pretty depressed so I had to go do some "emotional" spending. I only spent 30 dollars, bc all the fabric was either a dollar or 2 a yard, and I got at least 1-2 yrds of each. I got nice happy cute prints, to make me happier. I also picked up some cute crochet patterns, bc Im finally learning how to do that and cute yarn.

*sigh* He's only been gone like 5 hours and Im already down. I dont know how well Im gonna be able to take almost 8 months!! Cry Cry
17  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Circular Bag V 3.0 on: June 24, 2006 02:56:02 AM
So..I realllllllllllly wanted to make a circular bag like I saw in the tute list and I had some super groovy quarters I got at Joanns that would go perfect. As I'm cutting out my big circles and pinning them in place, my husband walks up and looks at me crazy. "what are you doing??'der..making a circle purse..' "do you honestly think all your crap is gonna fit in that?" And it dawns on me.. holy crap, there is no way my stuff would fit! So, I took my scraps, and I did this....

here it is full heh

It's pretty hefty, bc my crap weighs alot.. big giant wallet, big deck of tarot, heavy ass all in one tool thingie, huge keyring with a billion keys/key chains and other little things.

I really like how it came out, and I officially hate bias tape now!! yay!!! If anyone shows interest, I'll post a tutorial, Im dying to make another already haha! Comments muchly appreciated =)
18  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / my first recon! need help tho =( on: June 22, 2006 11:43:28 PM
So, I've been in a VERY creative mood today and decided it was time to reconstruct one of my tee's. Since I didnt want to mess up a "good" one ( band/movie shirts) yet, I used one of my west coast chopper walmart shirts. I turned it into a tank.

I forgot to take a before pic, but I have ONE in process pic..

I finished it, and I love it, BUT...

You cant tell in the pics, and I dont have one of me wearing it.. hubbies outside, and me= no make up and lookin funky...but the bias tape is all pulling outward.

its like that all the way around the neck both sides and the sleeves. I dont know what to do. Will it fix itself after its washed?? or, do I need to alter it? I was thinking if I didnt change, I might cut into the sleeves and make them kind of triangle shape, but Im not sure. Any suggestions?? Huh
19  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / my versions of "roomy rounder" bag and "hobo slouch" IMG HVY on: June 22, 2006 08:58:36 PM
I was inspired today, and decided to whip up two quick purses to get myself pysched for my swap, so I did two I saw here.

The rounder roomier bag I did plain. No frills, no closures, none-ya

I didnt use rings, I added the straps straight to the bag, I like how it came out and Im sad I dont ahve any more of that flowery print left =( I got it in a big bag of fabric I got at Value village. It was a placemat someone made.

now, the hobo... Im NOT happy with this, well, ok, I am, but, I screwed the zipper and straps up. I hadnt put a zipper in something in soooo long, and I totally spaced when making the straps (that thing happens sometimes when you ahve a 3 yr old screaming in your ear heh)

you can see my horrid mistakes. =(

I LOVE that monkey print. I got it at Joanns this weekend and made some pj shorts out of it..which i WONT show lol. The clothing making gods will frown. I used the simplicity pj pant pattern, but made them into shorts. I used the 3X. Umm.. yeahhhhhh, they came out like Clown pants. I sooo need to take them in, but Im lazy, and I "can" wear them, just not let anyone else see me in them lol. My husband laughed so much when he saw them, and was cracking jokes all night. "so, you got room for one more in there??" heh. It was a major ego booster tho =) ok, i'll shut up now heh
20  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / interfacing? on: June 21, 2006 02:29:31 PM
ok, call me a goober, call me a loser.. but... how do you go about picking interfacing? Ive never used it in making purses before, bu all the tutes call for it. I've seen it, how is it used? I finally picked up some, but, i thought you ironed it on, this stuff says sew it on!! What do I do? should I just go buy the iron on kind? I have to make 2 purses for a swap, and I want them to be really nice and im soooo confusedddddddd =(
