I finally started knitting again, after being too nauseated during my pregnancy, and too busy with my newborn!

4  I'm getting married tomorrow!!! in Weddings and Bridal Showers by NightChaed on: June 02, 2012 07:49:37 AM
I can't believe tomorrow is our awesome vintage-carnival-in-a-barn-burlesque extravaganza!!! There will be a volcano and confetti cannons and over 100lbs of candy!
The past week has been an absolute blur of crafting. Here's what we've been up to:

I painted the cake topper, they originally had light hair and she was all in white. My mister will be wearing a white tux, I may pick up some more porcelain paint today and touch it up further.

The fascinator for my veil, assembled by one of my bridesmaids per my direction. I'm super-thrilled with the outcome.

My amazeballs mixed-media bouquet!

Our marquee letters, which my fella cut out with a laser from foam board and our friends then spray-painted and edged with poster board. The inside of the walls are painted gold to catch the light. These are so decorating the house after the wedding.

So, rather than rent a photobooth, my fella actually friggin' wrote a computer program so we can take strip photos on our laptop which print out framed. I designed the frame.

There's so much more, but I still have things to finish, so I'll post the rest next week, when I've recovered! Check http://birdheartsbear.blogspot.com/2012/06/im-getting-married-tomorrow.html for our I Spy wedding picture list and Guest Mad Libs!

5  Brooch bouquet in progress in Weddings and Bridal Showers by NightChaed on: May 11, 2012 08:32:21 AM

I finally started wiring my brooches and semi-arranging them. I have two more brooches to place, and coffee filter roses to paint and add, but I'm really pleased with how it's coming.
OMG, I'm getting married in 3 weeks!  Shocked

I'm glad so many people want to try it, it really is a fun little project to fill up time that would otherwise be spend just waiting on things.

Remember to post pictures as you go! Cheesy These were my very first hexipuffs!

7  The Beekeeper's Quilt Knitalong in Knitalongs by NightChaed on: September 09, 2011 11:53:57 AM
I don't know if anyone else on Craftster is knitting Stephanie Dosen's Beekeeper's Quilt, but considering how it has exploded on Ravelry, I figure there must be a few of us!
Here's her blog post about the pattern: http://tinyowlknits.wordpress.com/2011/07/29/the-beekeepers-quilt/
I think it's lovely. I've been knitting hexipuffs(as the little puffy components are called) all month, though I only have about 40 of them so far. Other people on ravelry are already in the hundreds!

Here are my hexipuffs, so far:

Some people are duplicate stitching motifs onto their puffs, as well. There are a bunch of charts on Ravelry for them, and I made some charts, too, on my blog:

Stephanie recommends knitting puffs for a year and then seeing how many you have, rather than setting out with a goal in mind. It's a really good project for bus commutes, waiting in line at the bank, waiting rooms, etc.

I warn you, though, it's addictive! Hexipuffs are like potato chips, you start with one and before you know it you've had a whole bag!

10  Re: Thousands of crayons?? in What the heck can I do with THIS? by NightChaed on: August 24, 2011 07:44:46 PM
I wholeheartedly agree with the previous suggestions of melted drippy crayon art. I made one for a friend's wedding and they love it!!! I want to make one for myself now, I'm totally jealous of your stash!

I put up a tutorial on how I did mine, if you decide to try it out. Post pics if you do!
