I got a fabulous bag from kaymadben with a matching zipper pouch I just realized I forgot to get a picture of - d'oh! This bag is so well made I am very impressed! It will be holding my embroidery projects and probably make several trips to the library also! She also threw in a stuffed Mater from Cars for my 2.5 year old and he is totally in love with it - he keeps going around saying Tuh-mater without the Tuh! Then she also included this gorgeous Noah's Ark book with absolutely fabulous art! Thanks so much!!

hmm it looks like my dog has claimed the bag for her own and is napping on it - lucky for her I'm a sharing kind of gal...

Here is my offering, an embroidered owl stuffie (inspired by the book Doodle stitching) and a "night owl" (hence the moon & star)brooch.

Finally got pics of my package 3 and here they are!

Since she knew I was moving and would need new pretties for my house she crafted some great goodies for me!

Here are the 3 favorite things she sent, a Vanilla scented candle (smells really good too), post its - which are being put to very good use in our school stuff, and hand sanitizer which I can always use more of. It's funny because these are all things that are favorites of mine too!

She made me a fabulous Sunflower painting for my Sunflower kitchen and she also painted the flower hooks, which are doing a fabulous job of holding my aprons. I love how it brightens up my kitchen!

She also crocheted 2 of these beautiful trivets for me and I have already been using them - they really go well with my color scheme in the kitchen and dining rooms!

Thanks for a great swap! I can't believe how much happened during this swap in each of our lives - it's crazy!

Package 2:

Here is the picture of my 2nd package - yarn to start my stash as I'm just learning to crochet - although I will have to wait awhile to use it as we are moving in a little less than a month  Shocked

Package 1:
Ok for starters we have the letter and Where she is from - a Wisconcin postcard and a GORGEOUS keychain from Thailand - I love that she sent me things from both of the places she is from.

This is the photo album about her - that she made and put together and I love it - I especially love that her mom is her hero.

What she loves - Chocolate! A woman after my own heart! Her favorite is Dove so she sent the caramel Dove chocolates in a fun little tin that I can't wait to reuse(which also happen to be the ones my mom likes too so I shared with her) Also they have the little messages and the first one we opened said "Write a real letter, not just an email" How appropriate for this swap!

What she does best: A stenciled shirt for my youngest monkey, a container of friendship tea I look forward to sharing with my mom & grandma, and a little wallet that is exactly what I was needing - I just bought a new one but had a lot of little cards I didn't have room for and was going to make a little one just like this!

She also threw in some things just for me! A crochet hook and some yarn to try crocheting and the name of a website that has video tutorials. She also sent this cookbook that has cures for things like colds and different things with recipes like spaghetti sauce, etc which is perfect for me as I love that kind of stuff!!

It was all perfect for me and I look forward to getting to know her more!

I definitely know some little girls who would love those flower crowns!!

I have a question of my own - should I do the leopard print apron or one of these owls (about 8 inches tall)with a matching owlie brooch?

I didn't notice any other embroidered stuffies and I want to help with the diversity as much as possible!

26  Lightning McQueen clock in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by gkswife on: June 12, 2008 08:19:58 PM
My 2 year old is obsessed with Cars, especially Lightening McQueen and Mater so I am trying to add some Cars decor to the boys room without spending a lot of money. I found the plastic frisbee at Dollar Tree and I had purchased the clock movement a long time ago (on sale at Hobby Lobby of course!) and I used fabric paint for the numbers (which I already had). I am very pleased with how it turned out and my kiddo loves it!

My camera and I are not best friends right now - not sure why but it is not behaving well.  Undecided The colors on this aren't perfect but I had to take it without flash.

Comments & criticisms appreciated!

27  Quite the Stately purse! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by gkswife on: June 01, 2008 08:35:46 PM
I had been loving this fabulous Alexander Henry fabric with states all over it but couldn't justify the cost, until I found half a yard in the scrap bin for $2!! It was just enough for me to put together this purse. I used this tutorial: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=173522.0 by lisatrix and it was super fast to put together! I added pockets, a magnetic snap and a key loop. The lining and pockets are totally crazy with a little bit of pink camo and black & white polka dots but I LOVE it! Without further ado, here is my stately purse:

The outside:

the inside with one split pocket and magnetic snap:

Well I think the word "spoiled" is an understatement of what KarenLouiseM did for me. Seriously above & beyond. I am still just in shock it is so awesome!!

There are a ton of pics so I'm going to do some of them as thumbnails - PLEASE CLICK THEM, it is totally worth checking out!

I'll start with what she sent for my only girl child

here are all the rest of the bandanas - seasonal & fun!

a magic pig wand - the label says "To remove calories - Wave once over dinner, Twice over dessert"  I love her and she will hang in my kitchen!
2 computer part coasters - these will be awesome in my hubby's office! (from my wists)
Labels!! different sizes and they have my business name/logo on them these are so amazingly awesome! (from my wists)
Key chains for me & my hubby, mine says "I'd rather be smooching my geeky husband" his says "I'd rather be smooching my crafty wife" these are made on Rummikub tiles (idea from my wists)
a sunflower tile which will be used on something for my kitchen ( I heart Sunflowers)
bottle cap magnets of little dachshunds and fire hydrants - Awesome!

Pumpkins! (from my wists) These are so perfect and I love how she tied in the sunflowers!

She totally and completely nailed my style and then proceeded to spoil me rotten!
Sunflowers - earrings & necklace pendant
pink floral domino pendant on black cord
purple flower domino pendant on silver wire and matching earrings (I love matching sets but don't think I've mentioned that anywhere)
Star wire earrings - I love these! (from my wists)
Square pendant with teal & silver beads on stretch cord - this will totally go with most of my clothes!

hmm does that first necklace look familiar? Why yes the square pendant is reversible, not only that but there is a pin to match this side (I couldn't get it to not glare  Undecided )
A coffee bean pin! This must go with me everywhere!!! (also from my wists)
3 bottle cap dachshund pins (1 is going to my mom!)
an awesome owl in a tree pin (how did you work with all these small pieces??)
the scrabble tile earrings are the same as the purple flower ones in the previous pic but as these are my initials I may wear them this way also!

hair clips
the flowers are felt & buttons and from my wists
the bottle cap ones are the dachshunds
(that is not my hair btw I used my eldest son for the pic  Grin )

Embroidery roll, tea wallet, magnet & jelly beans
A state magnet for our collection (it's perfect!)
tea wallet (see next pic for an inside shot)  (wists)
Embroidery roll - the amazingness of this cannot be described (wists)
Belly flops - irregular jelly belly's I totally giggled before enjoying half a serving (my 2 1/2 year old tried desperately to eat the whole bag)

tea wallet open & full - can't wait to try some of these!

Embroidery roll - including some fabulous goodies!
this has several clear pockets for floss and small projects, she even included some floss holders, floss and a couple of small projects for me to do! there is even a magnet to hold the needles (also included), a clear pocket behind the magnet,  a felt area to hold the floss, and 2 medium and 1 large pockets to keep projects in. She also included a package of Thimble pads - I am so stoked about these as I am constantly poking myself but hate wearing a thimble!

I adore the fabric on the tea wallet & embroidery roll - it is so beautiful and again exactly my style!

I have been so spoiled and I can't begin to tell you all how much this brightened my day! I can't wait to show off my goodies and wear all my beautiful jewelry! She also used some shirts for packing and sent a coat for me that are now too small for her (after an awesome 70 pound loss!) that I will now get to use and then pass down when they are too big for me! Also she said she is still new at resin and I think she did an amazing job.

I love it all so much! Thank you KarenLouiseM -- you are a master stalker!!

For those of you hoping for something racy - sorry!

30  Sharktastic shorts & top in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by gkswife on: May 03, 2008 06:16:45 PM
I made some awesome shorts for my boys (ages 2 1/2 & almost Cool and appliqud a shirt for the little one yesterday from some fabric the younger one picked out at JoAnns. I used New Look 6398 for the toddlers shorts and McCalls 9638 for my oldest. I don't like how high the waist is on the McCalls pattern but other than that both patterns are good. I didn't use stabilizer when I appliqued the shirt and it's very bunchy but it was so late when I did it that I was too lazy to go looking for some.  Roll Eyes  I used my serger & my regular machine on these.

New Look 6398 & t-shirt

McCalls 9638 (the legs are not wonky I just adjusted them for the picture)
