1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Lace Leaf sweater from Loop-d-Loop on: January 06, 2008 08:18:27 PM
Ta-da! Completed in 8 days. Well, the ends still need to be woven in and I don't have a button for the collar.

Thanks for looking!

ETA: sorry for the sideways pic. I don't know how to fix it.
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Knitscene's Central Park Hoodie on: November 05, 2007 10:08:36 AM
It only took me 9 months, but here it is!

I wanted it baggy, so I knit it a size larger than what I thought I needed.  It ended up fitting perfectly and I have an extra skein. I guess my gauge was off...

I used the Tahki Donegal Tweed. It's scratchy, but only if you think about it.  Wink
3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Cat Power! on: April 26, 2007 09:49:40 AM
I wanted to make a little something for my best friend who loves Cat Power, so I looked around and thought "Why not do the album cover for The Greatest?" So, here it is, but I wouldn't mind some helpful criticism. My boyfriend says she will probably recognize the boxing gloves since she's familiar with the album, but is there anything else I can do to make this look better? Sorry for the crappy cameraphone picture...

And for reference (in case you don't listen to Cat Power), here's the original album:

Thanks in advance for any help!   Wink
4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Soft trees! on: December 24, 2006 09:53:09 PM
I was stumped for what to get my sister for christmas until I ran across Little Birds' soft tree blog entry: http://littlebirds.typepad.com/little_birds_handmade/2006/11/soft_tree_patte.html (sorry, I can't figure out the hyperlink thing). These are adorable and my sister's a craft freak, so it's perfect!   Cheesy

Something about them is so Dr. Seuss, I think I'll make some for myself!!

The happy family:

Woot woot! At an hour and a half from cutting to last stitch, it's a perfect last-minute Christmas present.
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / IK Swallowtail Shawl on: December 22, 2006 12:54:23 PM
I started this thing waaaaaaaaaaay back in August, got halfway through before I screwed up the Lily of the Valley and had to start completely over (LIFELINES!!! I never knew about lifelines).

It's my first lace project and as such, I learned quite a bit: I should be pickier about yarn; lifelines (natch) are a must; you CAN block acrylic.  It's a crappy picture - the shawl is being modeled by my office chair, but what can you do.

I'm just happy it's done, dang it!

Here it is with the cabled scarf for my godmom, all packaged up for Christmas:

Thanks for looking!
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Okay, I know I'm not crazy....(neck warmer help) on: October 05, 2006 12:55:57 PM
A few weeks ago, I could've SWORN I saw a super cute neck warmer in here somewhere. I seem to remember it being garter stitch, but maybe it was crocheted?

It looked like this when wrapped around the neck:

l l l l l l l
l l l l l l l
l l l l l l l

And I think it kind of ruffled a bit at the edges. And I'm pretty sure there was a knitted/crocheted flower holding it closed. I've searched the site and looked on knitty, but to no avail. Does anyone know/remember what I'm talking about?

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / What the *#@% can i do with this?! on: October 05, 2006 06:56:27 AM
My sister calls me up and says she's sending me a bunch of yarn. Fantastic! And then she says it's because she tried making a bunch of things out of it and it didn't work. Crap. So now I have 2 balls of this yarn and I honestly have no idea what the heck to do with it. It's 55% wool, and parts acrylic and maybe some polyester? So it definitely won't felt. *sigh* Any ideas?  Undecided

The picture's kinda crappy. It's brown and blue with bits of white stuck in it.
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Eeep! First time knitting lace! Please help! on: September 03, 2006 05:13:36 PM
Okay, so I am starting a shawl for my grandmother for Christmas (yeah, it's early, but I'm giving myself plenty of time for screwups) and I have never had to work with pattern repeats. How can you tell when you need to repeat the lace pattern? It outlines what parts to repeat and everything, but when do you know you need to?

Does that make sense?  Undecided

Thanks in advance for any help!
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Scarves and a hat - quasi image-heavy on: July 27, 2006 08:13:03 AM
I finished the scarves a long time ago, but never thought to take pictures.

Numero uno:

When I first started knitting, I said to myself "Self, you are going to make a Where's Waldo scarf." And so I did.

Close-up (kind of):

Tweedish scarf made with Lions Brand Homespun, charcoal and white held together:

Exxxxtreme close-up:

p.s. I look so dang happy because it's late and I have insomnia. Dammit.

This is the Asymmetrical Cable hat from One Skein. First time with cables, and even though I did them backward because I had to knit it flat, I'm pretty happy with it.

I'm not normally that red. I think the hat is just so green, my face can't help it.

Thanks for looking!
10  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Fabric? on: May 21, 2006 08:32:41 AM
As an embroidering newbie, I have much to learn. Such as, is it difficult to stitch on satin-ish fabric?

It's early. I posted this before I thought of just trying it!  Roll Eyes Nevermind....
