1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Unique gift envelopes! on: June 28, 2004 03:40:06 PM
I've been an a lil' envelope kick recently, being disssatisfied with the simple office white or manilla variety.
Here are two I've done; they're ideal for small, flat presents and cards!

Wide, bubbles motif! The blue circles are cut out form a photograph of blue camoflage material in blacklight. Smiley The silver front is sewn onto a matte black back.

This one has graph-paper and grommet flowers, and sushi grass! I love using sushi grass; it sews onto fabric really well too!

Machine sewing evenly around those curves was really a challenge! Anyone got any tips? (Besides going slowly! I tried as hard as I could, but my pedal isn't very sensitive.)

Hope you guys like 'em! Smiley
2  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Modern giftbox and all-occasion card on: May 02, 2004 12:41:06 PM
Hey, everyone! This is my first post to this forum! I'm a student at MassArt in Boston. I enjoy making crafty things to rest my brain from all the high-concept assignments I have every week.
Anyway, onto the pieces!

This is a simple gift box I decorated with an Eames design rubber stamp, ribbon, and paper. The paper circle is from Paper-Source, one of my favorite stores!!

This is a birthday (but all-occasion, really) card I made.  The base is chipboard covered in silver paper using a tab-fold-over method. One side of paper was bigger than the shape and had tabs cut in it that I folded and glued down to the reverse side, then a sheet that was the same size/shape as the board was glued over that to hide the tabs and cover the rest of the back. I affixed washers and beads using Gel Medium. Finally, I tied miscellaneous tubing through the hole for extra splash!

Obviously, these are both pre-personalization. Birthday greetings were written on the blue circle, and a birthday letter was written on the front and back of the card.
Hope you guys like them!
