1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / use for fingering weight mohair? on: November 20, 2006 12:07:09 PM
help!  I just picked up some beautiful yarn while in Venice at the weekend, with the intention of trying some lace knitting for the first time.  However, after looking at some patterns I don't think I have enough (note to self... check patterns BEFORE buying wool...)

i got 2 skeins of http://www.yarndex.com/yarn.cfm?yarn_id=1614 this in a mossey green.

I also got 2 skeins of 100% alpaca by the same company in electric blue.   it seems to be findering weight, I think (?)

Anyway, I would like to attempt something simple and lacy with the mohair.  I wouldn't use it if it was too fancy anyway.  So, if 2 skeins wouldn't be enough, what about a simple rectangle, with wide stripes of both, knit to a very loose gauge, say on 5 or 6 mm needles?

any thoughts?

cheers folks... I just don't want to have to frog mohair (not too much, anyway!)
2  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / manual required for Janome My Style 22 on: May 28, 2006 02:23:02 PM
Hi, I just acquired a freecycled Janome, but there is no manual for it.  It has barely been used and I really have no idea how old it is: generally from the look of it it seems maybe 20 years old?  I have tried ebay and other online sources with no success, does anyone have any recommendations?  I'm in Northern Ireland.

3  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Cowl sweater from s&b 1 on: May 03, 2006 03:05:37 PM
I just got the S&B book today and am a total newbie knitter.  Would it be completely over-ambitious to knit this for my first project?  looking at the pattern it seems like it might be ok, but I guess most patterns probably look that way 'til you start them!
