11  Re: Thermal from Knitty in Knitalongs by D.I.Winer on: July 13, 2007 02:06:19 PM
I thought I'd post a progress pic - I've separated the armholes now & am knitting the back.

I love this sweater SO much - even in it's unfinished state I can tell it's going to be one of my favourites! Now, only if I could knit in my sleep, this would be done in no time!

12  Boyfriend sweater done....and we still love each other. in Knitting: Completed Projects by D.I.Winer on: June 11, 2007 05:52:26 AM
Dodged the boyfriend sweater curse with this one!

I had knit him a different sweater for christmas but he didn't like it. So we looked through tons of patterns & found the Elizabeth Zimmerman Saddle Shoulder sweater (EZ is popular amongst boyfriends & husbands!) & he wanted grey...boring, but anything to make him happy. Right?

I used 12 balls of Elann Peruvian Wool (which, for the price is AWESOME & it comes in so many different colours..and they are Canadian) and 1 ball of Patons Classic Merino for the contrasting hem (which you can't see in the photo)

It took me about a month to make this & I'm SO happy with how it turned out. Too bad it's summer now & he probably won't be wearing a wool sweater for a while.

Boyfriend approved!

13  Seersucker Dress in Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects by D.I.Winer on: June 09, 2007 06:36:04 PM
Today I finished the dress I've been working on!

I used a skirt pattern I made a while ago for the bottom & then drafted a top for it.

The belt is sort of an obi style wrap around thing made of broadcloth I had in my stash.

I've worn it all day & it's comfy & girly!

14  Re: Rusted Root in Knitalongs by D.I.Winer on: May 08, 2007 11:33:54 AM
I've finished mine. it took just under a week to complete.
I'm kind of bummed out, I already had one skien of Cotton Fleece in 'Cherry Moon' in my stash, so I went & bought more - understanding that there'd be a difference in dye lots, but not expecting it to be 2 TOTALLY different colours!

I didn't do the puffy sleeves.

I think I'm going to dye the whole thing? I'm not sure what kind of dye I should use though - or what colour?

15  Re: knitting for a boy/boyfriend/husband knit-along? in Knitalongs by D.I.Winer on: March 21, 2007 11:54:24 AM
I finished the socks for my boy!

the photo is kinda crummy...there's little X's & O's cabled down the side.....so cute!
I used some Lanett Merino sock yarn for these & they turned out really nice & soft.

Now, after much internet searching & discovering that he is far, far pickier than I ever thought...we've settled on the seamless hybrid sweater from Elizabeth Zimmerman. Now we just need to pick out some wool...which I think is going to take until next winter. Who knew that a guy who lives in jeans & t-shirts would be so picky about his clothes?

16  Re: Wicked from Zephyr Style in Knitalongs by D.I.Winer on: February 18, 2007 07:30:30 PM
I finished mine yesterday!

This was a stash-busting project, I used some grey wool-ease I've had in my stash for about 3 years.
I really like this sweater - I made the 44-47 size & just added about 2" to the length - I also put in some waist shaping. I really like it! there's more pictures on my blog http://heyawesome.blogspot.com I'm sure I'll knit more of these!

Jesdmill your wicked looks wicked! Smiley

Here's a progress pic of mine:

I just started on one of the sleeves, hopefully they go as quick as the rest of the sweater! I noticed that there's no decreases in the sleeves though.....which seems weird to me, so I'm going to add some in.

18  Morse Code sweater for my boyfriend! in Knitting: Completed Projects by D.I.Winer on: December 10, 2006 05:06:35 PM
I knit this sweater top down raglan style for my boyfriend for christmas - the stripes in the middle are morse code - it says "my girlfriend knit this" (well, I messed up & didn't notice until way later - it *actually* says 'my girlfriennd knit this" ah well!)

Wheeee! I just need to wash it now! I used Knitpick's Swish superwash - so we'll see how it does in the dryer.

19  Re: Denyse Schmidt Quilt-a-long in Quilting: Discussion and Questions by D.I.Winer on: December 06, 2006 12:29:26 PM
okay, so here's a picture of my ice pops quilt so far. I just have to bind it now ...

this is my first quilt ever so there are no less than 5 billion mistakes but I have to say that even with all the errors it is SO pleasing to look at & I'm going to have a hard time wrapping it up to give away.

here is a quick photo of it - I basically just threw it down on the floor so it's not lying perfectly flat (and yes, I didn't sew the blocks in the correct order - and I didn't do that on purpose. I just realized it *after* I had sewn them all. booo.)

20  Re: Winter coat/jacket sewalong in Clothing Sewalongs by D.I.Winer on: November 17, 2006 05:58:39 PM
I'm all done! And it's extra cozy!

I used a Built By Wendy Simplicity pattern - if & when I make this coat again, I'm going to add some serious seaming in the front, as it is right now it's pretty shapeless...and since I'm pear shaped, I need all the help I can get...

I love love love the collar - it can also be turned down:

but my favourite part of the coat is the little bear guy I Screen printed on the inside:
