31  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / t shirt to tank top :) on: February 15, 2009 05:20:04 PM
Sooo this was a mens XL t shirt, which i then chopped up to make this tank top Smiley

I basically cut a band for the top, gathered it in the middle, then sewed another band on the bottom... then i had to add some elastic in the middle so it fit better...then attached it to another piece for the rest of the top. easy Smiley the straps i kind of copied from a store bought shirt... they are 1 inch elastic and you make the straps to go over the elastic, but a little longer so it bunches up!

what do you all think?
32  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / black and green polka dot wallet on: February 09, 2009 07:50:47 PM
Sooo i thought i'd attempt to make myself a wallet--i used the same fabric as the bag that i just made, which was black duck cloth and some green polka dot cotton. (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=289882.msg3291140#msg3291140)
I used sew on snaps, (because the ones you attach with a hammer make me so unbelievably mad... Angry Angry Angry) and i made a zipper pocket in the back for my coins.
I basically made it just like the previous store bought wallet i had.... I took measurements from it, and added 1/2 inch for seam allowance, and off i sewed!

what do you all think!? Wink
33  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / off the shoulder top! on: February 08, 2009 03:48:44 PM
I used this tute:

to make this top! It was more of a fitted top--i didn't have any over sized tops.. so i just kinda practiced with this old t shirt... i'm defiantly going to make another one, but make it bigger Smiley

34  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / black and green messenger bag! on: January 30, 2009 06:24:26 PM
Thanks to this wonderful tute: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=254975.0

I made this new bag Smiley

I didn't have a magnetic snap so i substituted my usual hair tie method Smiley

I used really thick interfacing on the outer fabric and medium weight on the inner fabric... i had a bit of trouble, well my sewing machine did, sewing through all the thick layers at the very end... i broke a needle too! Shocked
35  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / need help with men's button up top recon! on: January 20, 2009 02:11:06 PM
Alright so i'm stuck with reconing this xl mens button  up top.

I've already sewed it up so it fits me, and folded up the bottom to where its going to eventually be, and already did the sleeves and i'm happy.

The only thing is the collar/neck. the collar is really stiff and feels to 'formal' like... I was wondering how else i could possibly do the neckline?

Another thing is adding darts or what not to the back to make it a bit more fitted? I pinned two rows of darts in the back, but i really don't like the looks of them.. :/ any tips or other ideas? I'm also thinking of adding new buttons too!
36  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Any suggestions for a good dress pattern for this fabric? on: November 28, 2008 04:50:30 PM
I found this fabric at Joanns and i bought a couple of yards maybe 2 1/2? and i want to make a cute dress with it... but i have no idea what kind?! Any ideas?  It is winter here, but as long as i can wear a cardigan over it or something it should be ok...

the best picture i could get of it... its a silky type material

any ideas!? or suggestions?
