1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Baby Giraffe Kicking Bag on: April 04, 2011 07:30:00 AM
It's been a long time since I've posted here (Ravelry sucked me in) but I really wanted to share my version of Zodiac http://knitty.com/ISSUEsummer07/PATTzodiac.html because I made a chart for it and wanted to offer it to craftsters.  This bag is for my friend Christen who were recently informed her husband and her wait for adoption is over and their baby will be born in May, they don't know the sex yet....so I made this gender neutral present:

Kupcake, what a bold statement on the card box!  You've given me some courage to do mine, my colors have gotten mixed reviews from people (wine and orange, some people think it's garish) so I have been avoiding the card box thing because it's such a big project...but I only have 46 days left! Gotta get going!

Samara,  you did a great job incorporating the lace creatively!

Ok so here's what my to do list looks like with 46 days left:

- postcard rsvps
- map inserts

beaded cake serving set
wedding shoes decoration
Jewelry for BM's
Jewelry box gift for FG
headband for FG
beaded candle rings for centerpiece
Card box
knitted Card bag
knitted garter
Unity candle (50% done)
seating chart
table numbers

And here are pictures of what I've done:

invites with maps and rsvps:

cake serving set:

decorated shoes:

card bag(still needs handle):

I'm going to get cracking on all the jewelry, headband, jewelry box and cardbox this week and finish the unity candle project, whew, running out of time!
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Re: First try at a chandelier earring... on: June 28, 2009 06:44:14 PM
Thank you both for the kind words. I chopped off all my nails and will try some more tomorrow.
Don't know beans about beads, but I would wear you mistakes in a heartbeat. Post some wedding pics, action shots, I think you are heading in the right direction.

I can't post wedding pics yet because my wedding isn't until October 10th, but I will definitely post pics then, and here's one craft I've done so far, it's beads and wire, but they are knitted and wrapped around a knife and cake server handles:
4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / First try at a chandelier earring... on: June 28, 2009 02:53:33 PM
I'm trying to make chandelier earrings for my bridesmaids to wear to my wedding. (I'm using this tutorial: http://www.wigjig.com/jewelry-making/modclassic/modclassic-earringspg08.htm)

This is my first time using a wire jig and first time making my own earwires and jump rings....I think I'll purchase the earwires.  I used cheap wire, I did 20 gauge like they said, but I think that's too soft...also my fingernails are waaay too long and were getting in my way of wrapping tightly.  This is mostly a fail, but a good start.  Oh and these fake pearls suck, the paint flecked off like crazy, I'll use pretty glass beads instead.  I probably shouldn't post untill I get better, but I guess I'm looking for encouragement, and/or tips, lol.  Wink
5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: Are wedding photographers REALLY this expensive!?!?! on: June 24, 2009 07:42:00 AM
I live in a fairly pricey area and my photog is going to be $1,600.  The package we are getting used to be around 1,000 more though, he recently lowered his prices in response to the economy and he is throwing in free engagment photos, he also is giving us all the photos on cd with no watermark, is not requiring us to get prints through him or the album through him and is printing out a proof book to go with the cd.

6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: Unfortunate initials..monogram help! on: June 23, 2009 04:46:52 PM
I have no suggestions just wanted to say we have unfortunate initials as well, I'm Teresa and he's Allan...T&A, lol.

We don't want monograms anyway though so it's not an issue.

I finally have some craft pictures to share!

Cake serving set:

In progress pics:

As you can see I knitted the covering and then attached it, I glued the flat beads to the bottom.  I think it turned out well, now I'm debating whether to make flutes to match (fiance likes this idea, but my mom doesn't she wants to buy me flutes)

My updated list:

- postcard rsvps
- map inserts
beaded cake serving set
Jewelry for BM's
Jewelry box gift for FG
Card box
knitted Card bag
knitted garter
cake topper, probably polymer clay
escort cards
table numbers

Hardyjenni, I love your invites, I don't usually see cherry blossoms paired with blue but it looks really nice and everything is so polished, no stationary snob would suspect you did it yourself, congrats!

Our Wedding is October 10th, 2009:

Invitations and reply cards
Cake server set
leaf shaped escort cards and manzanita tree display
centerpiece rings to go around their amber colored lantern
Vases to hold our bouquets
decorate flower girl basket
pumpkin themed favors (need to iron out details on that one)
knitted garter belt
earrings and necklaces for my 3 bridesmaids and myself
jewelry box flower girl gift (and maybe a bracelet)
gift card box (fabric covered present stack)
purse to hold card
thank you cards
Guest book
Wedding Album (using blurb)

Pictures will follow soon...I'm starting on the cake serving set, I designed the invites and got the paper, need to print and the garter belt I'll get out of the way, it'll be quick.
9  UNITED STATES / Connecticut / Good place for denim and cordoroy? on: January 24, 2009 01:24:21 PM
Joann's selection pretty much sucked, I'm in West Haven by the way (New Haven County)  Anyone know a good place in New Haven or Fairfield county or does anyone know a good online store to get denim or cordoroy?
