521  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / !!Anatomy of a Crafter!! on: June 05, 2006 07:48:41 PM
I had this idea this morning while getting ready...what do you guys think about posting pictures of yourselves, kind of like the famous DaVinci drawing of that male anatomical model, with little labels of things that make you easily identifiable as a crafter? I thought it would be pretty cool to see everyone's little diagram of themself. Anybody else want to do it aside from myself?
522  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: Come one come all post your new tattoo IDEAS! on: June 04, 2006 05:47:10 PM
Just a precurser: I guess this could be offensive to some people.

Okay, I've been thinking about my first tattoo a LOT lately. It's become sort of an obsession I suppose.
I still want it on my hip where it's sort of meaty and won't hurt TERRIBLY and is concealed most of the time, but I'm arguing with myself over exactly WHAT I want. I bet I'll get some funny faces when you all see this picture, but I just love it. Something about it is just so cute in an obscure, creepy kind of way. I know I'll have a penis on me for the rest of my life (wow I just started to laugh) but I think it's just kind of sweet. Check it:

hey cool bag! are you german? im not but i learn german at school haha xxxxx

I'm pretty german, but I don't speak it or anything. It just kind of comes from a friend of mine who always liked to overexaggerate my german...ness and made fun of my being anal-retentive and really...hard-headed.
524  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Cleaning help, please? on: June 02, 2006 12:55:52 PM
I don't know how clean of a negative you'd get using the sun, it could wrap around your screen and expose the whole thing, and that would suck.

But when I do photographic silkscreens, to clean them out I use regular ol' clorox bleach. Apply it liberally to both sides of the screen, wait ten minutes, and blast it out with a strong jet of water. It generally gets any stains left from ink off of the screen as well as all the emulsion. I don't know if that helps, but I hope so.

525  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / Re: what type of tape? on: June 02, 2006 12:51:52 PM
Wide masking tape. Duct tape is too sticky and it could potentially ruin your screen.

526  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Knitty's nautie on: June 02, 2006 11:23:40 AM
I'm in the process of making my own nautie for a friend of mine. I think it's going to turn out to be pretty awesome, but I'm not gonna post a picture till it's completely done. Wink

527  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: I am an art whore (IMAGE HEAVVVVYYY) on: June 02, 2006 11:06:54 AM
The fact you used the word douche makes up for any doucheyness there may have been (it's currently my favourite word, along with the douchebag varient). But really, it didn't sound douchey at all, and you are AMAZINGLY talented. I love, well, both the paintings, and all the drawings as well. Especially the line drawings of random objects (it's almost like I Spy!) and the nudes on address labels. I only wish I was as talented as you. I hope to see more of your work.

Thanks so much! And thanks to everyone else who commented too! I have a lot more stuff in a few sketchbooks that I haven't scanned into my comp yet because...I am currently scanner-less. I'm working on it, though.

Thanks again, guys <3<3
528  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: help about slippery flip flops on: June 01, 2006 06:09:40 PM
Put a strip of duct tape on the bottom of the flip flop (or any slippery soled shoe for that matter). It doesn't sound like it would help but it really does. It'll give you a lot more traction.

Hope that helps. Wink
529  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: Something to let a certain boy know I still love him on: May 31, 2006 05:46:44 PM
By the way, sorry for another "WHAT DO I MAKE MY BOYFRIENDDDD!?!?" post.
530  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Something to let a certain boy know I still love him on: May 31, 2006 05:39:30 PM
I haven't been in the best spirits lately. It's my senior year of highschool and I've been particularly stressed with all those applications, deadlines and the such. I have a really low tolerance with people because of all this crap...especially with the boyfriend. I've been trying to think of some nice little things to make for him to let him know that it's nothing he's doing in particular, but I'm at a loss.

He's a drummer and he recently took up the guitar and I've been thinking about knitting him some kind of cool intarsia design guitar strap but I don't think it'd be particulary supportive (it'd be kind of stretchy). He was originally born in Israel and he speaks Hebrew but he's a terrible Jew...

So if anyone has any ideas for little gifts or tips on that guitar strap i'd love to hear them. Smiley Thanks, guys.
