1  Re: BooshSwap4 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by gemma_lisa on: February 06, 2008 04:03:11 PM
Yay I got my package from Babizzle, it's soooo brilliant, I was ripping open the lovely red wrapping as soon as I got it!!!

Here is it all together:

Miso soup! An oriental prince in the land of soup!!!

Ive never tried it but it looks so yummy (and I love soup!!!) I can't wait to have it for lunch one day!

A bag of sweeties! Just like in the episode where they have Ivan the bear in the van. Aaah tuck shop memories flooding back, this is so cool, I never see shops selling sweets like this in the little bags anymore! I had to take a picture quick cos my housemates kept dipping into them!

Mod badges! I adore badges so I am loving these! Now I've just gotta get myself a suit and a wolf costume... Wink

A Vince Noir mirror, now I can look at lovely pix of Vince and my own reflection at the same time! I love what it says on the back, this is definately Vince's personality summed up in 1 item!! I love how the top 3 images are him wearing 3 different types of hat!!

Boosh bling! I'm gonna have a Boosh party this month and I am soooo wearing this to it, it's on a really cool long chain too, I love it!

A gorgeous charm bracelet, there are so many charms, it musta taken ages! It looks brilliant and I can't wait to wear this to the Boosh party as well!!

And finally this super fabby bag!!!! The silver design is so sharp and well done, it looks great with the black and also this bag is super massive, which is perfect because I fly alot and always have to stuff everything into 1 bag to go through security - so this looks great and is really handy too! After the last tour everyone was wearing the lightning bolt T shirts and now I have a cool bag with the design on, its fantastic!!

So thank you soooo much Babizzle, I love every single item!!! You're a star! Roll on the next Boosh swap!!

2  Northern Ireland fridge magnet in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by gemma_lisa on: September 29, 2007 10:05:48 AM
I have a friend from Belfast who's leaving to start uni in England, so I thought I'd make her a little student survival kit and this is one of the items I'm gonna send her to remind her of home!

I was thinking I'd maybe make the whole of Ireland or the shape of Belfast but after I printed off some images they look waaaay too hard so I settled on just doing the outline of Northern Ireland. I put down some tin foil on a baking tray and squished it onto it, then tweaked the edges until I got that shape. I messed up many times and the end result isn't perfect but I think you can recognise it once you know what its meant to be! It came out of the oven a bit bumpy but I like that, it kinda mimics the real land. It's really thin so it's a bit delicate but that means its a good weight to stick well to a fridge. I nicked the magnets off an old fridge magnet and stuck them on with superglue.

3  Re: Question about Mod Podge in Discussion and Questions by gemma_lisa on: March 05, 2007 09:29:27 AM
Cheers for the replies. I spent all day yesterday furiously making this since for some reason I thought mother's day was next weekend (in the UK) so I wanted to get it in the post early but at least its done in plenty of time!

I used glossy mod podge as a glue and sealer (2 coats) and it didn't make the printed out pictures run too much, it just made the colours go a bit brighter, but I did do quite thin coats underneath and for the first coat on top.

4  Quick, cheap and personal gift! in Completed Projects by gemma_lisa on: March 05, 2007 09:24:42 AM
I made this for mothers day (and today I find out its not even next weekend but the weekend after, well here in the UK anyway, so it turns out I've got ages to post it after all) because my mum loves decoupaged things and as a student living away from home I had to think of something affordable and postable! I think the 'loved ones at home' thing is especially personal since I'm not going to be home for mothers day.

I got a cheap wooden frame, it was nice and smooth so I had to score it with scissors so the glue would stick better. I printed off the pictures, glued them with mod podge then did 2 layers of glossy mod podge over the top. Luckily it didn't make the pictures run, it just made the bright colours brighter and the darker colours darker which I kinda like. Its more shiney in the flesh and you can't see the brush marks as much as in the photo, I'm sure my mum will like it better than if I'd spent 20 on a present in the shop which loads of other mums would be getting as well.

5  Sheep Windchime in Completed Projects by gemma_lisa on: August 07, 2006 06:47:48 AM
I made this ages ago, just got some chimes and sewed them onto the bottom of a sheep toy cos I was sick of windchimes always having dolphins or butterflies on them so this is something a little different.

6  Movie Star Ballroom Mask. in Costumes: Completed Projects by gemma_lisa on: August 01, 2006 06:45:14 AM
A few years ago me and my friends had a 'posh' themed party where we all made masks to wear. I wanted mine to be a bit different so I cut out the card in this shape and stuck loads of pix of old stars on like Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Rita Hayworth and Lauren Bacall. My printer at the time was playing up and would only print them out in this bluey hue but I think that makes it look better. You can't really see in one picture but it's also covered in star sequins that are transparent but shine when the light is on them. The stick is an unsharpened pencil with purple glitter on it!

7  Felt Door Name Plate in Completed Projects by gemma_lisa on: June 28, 2006 05:13:09 AM
This was my 1st (but rushed) attempt at a door name plate in felt. I made it for my friend's birthday and she loved it and its small enough for her to take with her when she starts university in Sept! The R looks a little wonky but never mind. The bottom line looks straighter in real life.

I used 2 purple rectangles, sewed the lettering and flower onto the first one and then put card inbetween the 2 rectangles so it lays flat on the door. Then I sewed the back rectangle so it looked neat and hides the stitches and card and that makes it look more 3D too. It was really easy to do so I might make some for my new housemates.

8  Felt Jack Skellington in Completed Projects by gemma_lisa on: May 16, 2006 03:24:05 PM
This was so easy to make, only took an A4 sheet of felt. I padded it a bit with cotton wool so it looks alot less flat in reality. I just copied a picture I got on Google of Jack Skellington because I love the Nightmare Before Christmas and I think it's come out really well in felt. Maybe I'll make a bigger version as a cushion.
