21  Re: Tour de Fleece 2007 in Spinning: Completed Projects by anneadeline on: July 12, 2007 07:19:41 PM
Finished this yesterday!  They are wool mill ends, and I hand-dyed the green.

I knitted a swatch (to see if it would felt, cause I forgot if the green was superwash) and I love how the green is variegated!

eatmoreplants - I use my ashford niddy noddy.  It gets tiring after a while, but much cheaper than a skein winder.
feralfeminine - Your yarn is so squishy!  For some reason I can not ply with thread.

This was my day 1 skein.  I hand-carded (as in, with hand carders) these batts so I could blend the 1/2 oz of mohair with black and some tussah.
Midnight , 3.1 oz , 162 yards , bulky; I almost never spin bulky!

As always, everything is gorgeous!
So, I've got nothing for this week.  I got two kittens, and who can do anything else when there are kittens around? (certainly not me!)
I do have a picture of one kitten (Rocky) and my wheel:

I just hope he doesn't try that while I'm spinning!  Wink

Happy Friday!  I'm on my summer vacation, and I'm already losing track of the days.
You all have wonderful creative names like "Honey, I blew up the peacock" and "Plastic Flamingos".  It makes my names sound so boring.
Anyways, my skein for this week:

Spumoni, named for my favorite ice cream that I am constantly recreating in fiber: 2.3 oz ~ 134 yards/ 123 meters

I took this in the afternoon, so it is quite bright.  The colors are darker than that.

I've got to try bamboo now!  All these gorgeous yarns are calling to me to branch out with fibers.

25  Experimenting With Rainbows in Spinning: Completed Projects by anneadeline on: June 17, 2007 07:34:19 PM
I work mainly with colors that are alike (blues, purples, etc.) but I wanted to do something with a lot of colors.  Like all the colors of the rainbow.

I started with two singles.  One is all blues and purples and the other is reds, oranges, yellows, and greens (that one reminded me of a salad, for some reason).

Plied together they became this:
244 yards, not quite a worsted weight

I enjoyed watching the different color combos as I plied.  Gotta try this again soon!  What do you all think?

Okay, I have not posted on Fiber Friday in such a long time.  So, even though it is Sunday, I'm going to post my two most recent:
(excuse the darkness, I was trying to get that natural light, but it was getting dark)

some 160 yards or so of 2 ply, hand-dyed

320 yards, single, hand-dyed

Hope y'all like them!

For the past two months or so I have been wanting to post here, but have forgotten every single week!  Seriously.
(bad lighting because I just now remembered and it's dark now)

60 yards, bulky 2-ply, BFL

Can't remember how many yards, but hand-dyed BFL with some firestar carded in.  Much more purple and bright in real life.

And I'm knitting up a purse from some handspun, though I forgot to take a picture of the skein (all hand-dyed):

By the way, I love all the yarns this week!  So bright and so many that are very shiny.

28  7 Skeins of Yarn - Obsessed? Me? in Spinning: Completed Projects by anneadeline on: September 30, 2006 09:35:58 PM
I bought about a pound of colored merino and spun all this up within about four days.  More expensive than I usually spend, but the colors are so vibrant.  Now, the Yarn:

^ Punky Fairy, 2 ply merino.  Normally pink isn't my thing, but really like this <3

Midnight twist, 1 ply merino.  If you look you can see that a dark purple and dark blue are  twisted together.

Mermaid, Boucle domestic wool

Grape Candy, 2 ply merino.

Coils!  Wish I could do more of this, but I desperately need the jumbo flyer. (unless I do tiny coils, but I don't have that much patience)

Chocolate Candy, 1 ply merino

Black Ice, 1 ply.  Not a fan of this one... don't know why.

Thanks for looking!  I have been dying a lot of roving, so I will be spinning a lot more.

29  Re: Ashford Jumbo Flyer Question in Spinning: Discussion and Questions by anneadeline on: September 24, 2006 11:01:01 AM
The Kit Kraft looks a lot like the Traditional,so I think it is just an older version.  I just measured the Wheel diameter and orifice height and they are the same as on the Traditional.
Here's a picture of mine:

Thanks for helping

30  Re: Fiber Friday September 15 in Spinning: Completed Projects by anneadeline on: September 17, 2006 02:59:03 PM
First time posting for Fiber Friday- yay!

My first yarn is 120 yards from a Mystery Roving.  It is so soft I think there might be silk in it.

Second is what I have deemed the 'Candycane' yarn.  The red was dyed with koolaid and plied with undyed wool.  This one is only 55 yards, but one of my favorite so far.

(I thought a closeup did it more justice)
