2  A-Z baby quilt/wall hanging. in Quilting: Completed Projects by gemjams on: February 24, 2010 08:47:05 AM

I found out I was going to be an auntie recently so I wanted to make something special for the baby that wasn't gender specific! I decided to make an alphabet quilt, it's cot sized and each letter has an appliqued picture of something that begins with that letter. It took alot of work and it still isn't completely finished (still needs binding!!!) but I'm pretty happy with it as it's only the second quilt I've ever made. Anyway hope you all like it and any tips on what colour to bind it will be greatly appreciated!!

3  Tattoo inspired quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by gemjams on: February 24, 2010 08:16:40 AM
Hi everyone,

this is my first quilt so please be nice!!! It was inspired by some tattoo fabric I bought. It's a single bed size and is kind of basic as I didn't want to go to over the top for my first project (which I often do!). It took a couple of days straight on my sewing machine which resulted in an stiff neck and a numb bum but I'm really proud of it.

7  Re: Collar Help! in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by gemjams on: December 10, 2005 01:06:39 AM
Sorry, it's too late in the night for paint.  But... That's just a standing collar.  Meaning... It's a straight strip of fabric.  I'd imagine that it would be as long as it needs to be around the neck, and twice as wide, in order to fold it in half.  Plus seam allowance.

Yeah that is right! I would just suggest that you do this aswell so it fits to the garment better:

but do the twice as wide as chilan suggested.

p.s sorry from my pants drawing!

Edit: sorry the pics so small! Basically it says 'Cut the rectangle the length and double the height of how you want your collar'

'Then cut up leaving a few mm where your neck starts to curve(basically the sides of your neck going down over your collar bone)'

'Then open up the slashed parts a few cm and stick it on another piece of paper, add seam allowance and cut out.'
