11  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Charms and charm bracelet swap? on: January 10, 2011 09:02:22 AM
Driving to work today I thought about how I have about a million charms...what do you guys think about a charm swap? Where we swap 5,7, 10 or so charms and a completed charm bracelet with each other? Refresh our stash and craft a nice new piece of bling Smiley

Comments welcome!
12  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / how do you clean your thrift store jewelry? on: September 19, 2010 06:40:54 PM
I have BAGS of junk jewelry I have bought at flea markets etc..I am waiting to break them into components and such but I am wondering the best way to clean them? Did some basic searches and it seems all the sites contradict each other Sad

I have some stuff to clean my sterling (like my sterling ball locket that is badly tarnished but only cost a quarter *squeee*) but my plated and rhinestone stuff I want to be careful.

Any tips?
13  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / personal swap bracelet (Don't look Dawn!) on: August 26, 2010 05:29:04 PM
I was asked to participate in a personal swap and I made a charm bracelet. She let me pick colors and theme, and was open to letting me "stash bust" as my crafting budget is in the negative Sad

What do you think? C and C always welcome!

14  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Really cool tutorial for putting paper napkins on cardstock on: July 17, 2010 06:43:01 PM
I have just started a scrapbook for college and my wedding (years later  Embarrassed ) and I have some specialty napkins I was wondering how to incorporate. While surfing the lovely interwebs, I came across this lady's blog with a neat video telling how to adhere the napkin to cardstock.

Hope it is useful to you , it sure was for me!

15  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects / Summer flip flop wreath on: July 16, 2010 04:44:19 PM
I went to Joann's and the kids flip flops were 60% off and the embellishments were 50% off soo...

I gathered some stuff and got the trusty hot glue gun and arranged and glued...

Then I hung it on my door. Smiley

What do you think?

*this is hardly my idea, there are lots of versions around the interwebs Smiley
16  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / J and T Challenge 2: Summer Breeze Ankle Bracelet on: June 06, 2010 10:24:21 AM

My challenge entry for the Summer theme is an ankle bracelet. It is made with silver plated bar and loop chain, natural blue coral chips, silver plated 4MM spacer beads and small silver plated clapperless bells. It provides just a subtle tinkling and not a holiday like jingling when you walk. I love the color of the coral and how it can be worn with cutoffs and a teeshirt or with a pretty summer dress.

Here is a shot of it by itself so you can see construction (keep in mind I have larger ankles so it may be bigger than what you expect of an anklet Cheesy )

Another "action" shot taken by my son Smiley

Comments and criticisms more than welcome! Happy summer!
17  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Tattoo Flash charm bracelet on: May 24, 2010 03:18:33 PM
My partner received so I can post!

I made this bracelet for the Loaded Charm Bracelet Rnd 2 swap (already waiting for round three!)

I made the picture charms with digital images and diamond glaze. The rest is from my stash!!! (woot!)

C and C welcome!
18  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Ring swap? on: May 22, 2010 07:56:59 PM
I was just thinking a fun swap could be a Ring swap...where you make a couple or a few adjustable rings for your partner using found objects, resin and bezels, upcycled junque jewelry...

I couldn't find this theme but I was wondering if it has been done before?
19  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / " A Charming Exchange" = Awesome! on: May 16, 2010 05:15:24 PM
** I am in no way associated with the people who wrote, contributed, published or in other ways are attached to this book...I just bought it myself and wanted to share my own lil "review"

I was at Joann's this weekend (of course  Tongue ) with my handy dandy 40% off coupon. I came across this jewelry book: A Charming Exchange: 25 Jewelry Projects To Create & Share by Kelly Snelling and Ruth Rae.

It has beautiful pictures of different projects that came about as round robins, collaborations or straight swaps with different projects detailing different charms, additions and pendants.

Frankly, a lot of the items were beyond my scope in skill level/technical skills, but they were SO nice looking and interesting, really stirred the brain juices. They used mixed media to make charms with fibers, beads, wire, found objects etc.

If anyone else has/came across this book I would love to hear your thoughts on it.
