ooh, maybe you could include a postcard from home (that you've written on), or write him letters (one per week?  one per month?) so he'll have things from you with him to look forward to.

this may be a stupid question, but those are both programs one must pay for, correct?

do you know of any free trials or anything like that?

how do you get the pads in there?  does the top open up, or do you just stick them in the opening on the bottom?

amazon carries almost all of the colors they make.  occasionally ebay has sets on auction - i'd just keep looking there.

when i started scrapbooking, i had three bulletin boards full of mementos.  i took down the bulletin boards and sorted all of the stuff into different categories:  baby pictures, ticket stubs, programs, etc.  at that point i had some idea of what kind of pages i was going to do and bought paper and stickers to go with each theme.

i think i did it kind of haphazardly, so maybe my approach isn't the best one to take, but it's how i started.   Cheesy

A lot of times the adhesives will say if they're acid free - nowadays the vast majority (at least the ones meant for scrapbooking) are.

I use plain ol' gluestick for most things, and the little sticky adhesive dots for precious things.

i've actually seen something like this attempted, but can't find the site.

it went something like this:
1.  use an exacto knife to cut a rectangle from the interior of the book (make sure you leave edges)
2. mod podge or elmer's glue all of the pages to the back cover
3. let dry, but do not close the front cover!
4.  when dry, cut felt to fit area around the open rectangle, and glue it on.  if you're feeling ambitious, you can also line the interior of the box part with felt.
5.  voila!

hope this helps and is clear enough to understand - let me know if any of it is confusing.

hazza:  maybe some costume fairy wings, fairy-themed notebooks/pens/etc (they usually have this kind of stuff at hot topic or comic/hippie shops), you could make her a shirt or tote with fairies, some silky slippers?

Hello all,

I've been making a few iron-on shirts with words using paint and MS word. I'm looking to start making shirts with homemade graphics - does anyone have any ideas/suggestions for programs to use for creating graphic designs?

Thanks in advance!
