You've done a really lovely job!
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Faux Bois Watch!! I am so proud! :D on: November 12, 2007 09:50:43 PM
Proud you SHOULD be! That is bloody awesome!  I love it.  The thread is great, and the 'knots' in the wood are an inspired touch.  I love projects that make old/broken stuff useable again, too.

Would be sooooooo awesome to make heaps of these out of all different kinds of liquor bottles and line them up along the top of a bar.
4  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Recycled wooden futon frame, NEW Shoe rack! on: October 12, 2007 01:55:50 AM
This is my favourite kind of thing to see- something that might be thrown out getting a new life as something so very useful!  There is a college near my house and when the kids leave at the end of the year they very often dump their futons by the side of the road, and I always thought, ah the waste, but... never ever thought of anything to do with them- now that I know, the next one I see is gonna be my new shoe rack Shocked)  What a nice husband.

How cool! Your creations look great! On another level it is heartening that UO seems to be reaching out to makers directly for this line, as in the past there have been issues with them taking ahem 'inspiration' from crafty businesspeeps without crediting or compensating them.  I hope they continue to offer opportunities like this one to makers!

Your son is just darling! I love that azure blue/koolaide dye contrast you have going on!
7  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Re: Sewing questions... on: June 20, 2007 12:11:25 AM
They are a MUST for making clothes from stretchy fabric like spandex/t-shirt fabric- well you can sew that on a normal sewing machine but you have to use a zigzag, and if you use a serger it will look super-professional and it will be faster and the seams will be stronger.

I love mine! They're so worth getting if ya wanna be able to do stretchy stuff. I looooooooove stretch sewing lately I've been using mine more than I use my sewing machine. Takes awhile to get your head around some techniques but there are plenty of great books out there to help.
