21  High Neck Halter and an Octopus!! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by KiwiQ on: June 28, 2008 05:10:32 AM
I'm a huge fan of plain old t-shirts, so usually my recon consists of taking it in so its more snug, so this is my first attempt and really reconning a t-shirt. I don't have a sewing machine or any sewing experience, so please keep in mind this is ALL HAND-SEWN!!!

One old orange t-shirt from Walmart, and one free shirt from work:

From the front

From the side

From the back, excuse the bra.  I'll probably be wearing a sports bra with it anyway.  I'm never really one for caring about which bras are fashion faux-pas for which shirts.

AND THE OCTOPUS! I actually drew this patch in hopes of putting it on the shirt, but it doesn't look right on the shirt.  If you can think up any ways to snazz up the shirt, I'd be MUCH obliged.  I was thinking a star-shaped keyhole just under the neckline?

And he's a recon too since I used the material from my beloved khaki shorts which ripped, were stitched, and then ripped again (right down the bum crack while I was with a group of friends!).

Driving around at sunrise with a camera really pays off in Florida.  So pretty and calm that even giant dead treese lose their creepiness.

Forest fires, while destructive, are seriously amazing.  One was raging about 10 miles away and it still managed to send this much smoke our way.

Just plain old sunsets are pretty spectacular as well.  Even when you're stuck in traffic.

My little friendly grasshopper.  Couldn't pass up the opportunity to photograph him on the way out the door to work.

My favorite subject. My recently deceased best friend, Kitten X.

My handsome little boy.

24  A Shmampling of Wonder in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by KiwiQ on: June 17, 2008 08:44:56 AM
A shmampling (yes, I mean sampling) of my work:

Master copy of Egon Schele's selft portrait.  Charcoal and watercolor.  He wanted everyone to think he was a disturbed, unloved, poor, emaciated, misunderstood artist.  His parents loved and supported him. He had friends.  AND his parents paid for his studio, apartment, and art supplies.  What a goober.

Digitalize me! Mixed a different shade for each 1/2 inch square on the canvas.

Inspired by Chuck Close.  Who ISN'T inspired by him??  Roughly 80 hours of work.

Now you see why.

Nude figure study.

Charcoal detractive study. (cover the paper in charcoal and use the eraser to bring out your image)

I have no idea, but I really like this.
