11  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / looking for help with quotes, dares, etc. on: January 26, 2009 07:15:23 PM

So, i want to make chatterboxes/cootie catchers like these:
https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=89044.msg1032844#msg1032844  for my wedding... i actually got the idea from some other website (can't remember what it was), but i just found this one on here in the archived featured projects...

I've found a template for it and stuff, but i was wondering if people could help me out with what to write in them?

What i'm after is:
* quotes about love, marriage, or life in general
* little fortunes like in fortune cookies, preferably nice ones
* clean but funny jokes
* fun dares for our guests to perform

i'm going to make a few different ones, the main idea being to get people to wander around, checking out ones on different tables, or doing different things to liven up the party, and get them to mingle a bit.

12  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / A Few Questions About Jam. on: November 25, 2008 10:32:48 PM

So, i wish to make some jam for christmas.

now, i have made jam before... only it was when i worked in a factory, so i had a specific recipe  to work from and was making about 400kg of the stuff at a time. As you can imagine, this did not give me much of an idea how to make a nice 2 - 5 kg batch at home!

so here are my questions, i would appreciate any help anyone can give me.

Firstly, as a general rule, how much sugar does one use per kg of fruit/berries? is it different for citrus fruit (ie marmalade)?

Second, does anyone use pectin in their home-made jam? if so, how much?

and last, how long does it generally keep in a sealed jar?

13  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Summer Christmas Gift Ideas! on: October 19, 2008 04:56:04 PM
So, It's summer for christmas here in oz, so hot chocolate kits, scarves and beanies are kind of inappropriate :-)

I've got a couple ideas to share, and i also want to hear any other ideas people have for summer christmas gifts.

My ideas so far are

for the girls:
  • summery handbags or beach/tote bags
  • jewllery
  • Bath bombs

For the boys:
  • boxers
  • stenciled t-shirts
  • beaded bracelets
  • BBQ spice rubs

I'd also like to make some baked goods and lollies/candy to put into hampers. Does anyone have good easy recipes for non-chocolate-based (i.e. non-melty) lollies?

Ideas on what to put in the spice rubs might be good too, however i might delegate that to Fience to create :-P
14  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Discussion and Questions / hard pages? binding? on: September 15, 2008 12:43:36 AM
so, i've been lurking on craftster for years, i've posted a couple times in other people's threads, but i've never posted a project... also, i've never been one much for scrapbooking, cuz i've never had any reason to make a scrapbook. Now i'm recently engaged, and i want to make a scrapbook to commemorate (also, i can't spell for rubbish) our engagement, but i haven't the faintest idea where to start.

so, i want something with hard pages, i don't want it to flop around all over the place cuz i want to put the cards that we recieved in it somehow as well as photos and and bits of the decorations from our party.

so, what i really want to ask, is what should i use for the pages, and how shall i bind it all together when i'm finished with it?
