13  FO: ruffled fingerless gloves in Knitting: Completed Projects by knit_north on: October 03, 2007 11:11:04 PM
horray an FO! here are my berry picking gloves (based on the ruffled gloves in loop-d-loop)

*mods:* i've flipped them upside down so to speak - now the ruffle is up top.

*wool:* patrick got me this most amazing handspun wool/alpaca at the ODD gallery auction in Dawson City - it is sooo lush! it is 2ply - one = natural grey and the other is hand dyed in rainbow colours

and umm it took me a couple weeks to actually get around to weave the ends in but otherwise it was very quick knit!

14  Molly dress *a mod blythe dress - with tute!* in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by knit_north on: September 22, 2007 02:26:39 PM

Hi! I made this dress for the last Blythe swap and had a couple requests on Ravelry for a pattern - so here you go! further pics etc on my blog http://knit-north.blogspot.com/2007/09/molly-dress-little-mod-number-for.html

12" Blythe Doll

Lang Jawoll sock yarn [75% superwash wool,18% nylon,7% acrylic 206 yards per 50 gram ball] - I love Jawoll! It is a lighter weight than most sock yarns, which is great for doll clothes. The best thing about it is each skein includes a 5g spool of reinforcement thread ~ perfect to sew on buttons, sequins etc!
   two doll sized buttons
   sequins, beads [optional]
set of four 2.75 mm [US size #2] needles

CO 40 sts. leave a tail aprox 3 inches long
Knit 2 rows. Join - being careful not to twist.
   Eyelet Row: *K2tog YO* repeat
   Knit 10 rows
Reduce row: *K3, K2tog* repeat (end up with 32 sts)
   K1P1 Rib for 4 rows
   Knit 12 rows

Divide for Front:
   K16 turn, P16
   K1P1 for 3 (or 4) rows
   Cast off Purl wise

Pick up 16 sts at the Back
Stockinette 4 rows (K on RS, P on WS)
   Next row P on RS
   Eyelet Row: *K2tog YO* repeat
   P 1 row
   Cast off

Use yarn tail from bottom to sew the bottom 2 rows together.
Sew on 2 buttons to the top front edges (use the eyelet holes as button holes) If desired, sew on sequins and/or beads to skirt portion. Weave in ends.

Hope you enjoy! if you have questions let me know - this is the first pattern I have written up, so fingers crossed I am clear.
I'd love to see other versions - please post them!

16  Re: LobsterClaw mitts in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by knit_north on: August 25, 2007 12:26:41 PM
i suppose most kids go through that phase where they are so concerned with being cool and they don't want to do anything outside the norm, and then most of them grow out of it again.  (although some don't go through it and some never grow out of it, but that's another story...)  but i think that probably starts more around middle school, doesn't it?
yes that is what i'm worried about - they might be too outside the norm - but middle school is a ways off so that makes me feel better!

and yes i agree i think want a pair myself!!
they kind of remind me of the lobster guy on futurama:

i love the idea of lobster claws sticking out of a winter parka
