1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Musical Hat on: November 18, 2006 01:06:51 PM
Thanks for all the positive comments!  I will work on getting a tutorial made, but it might take me a day or two (the pattern I made is all hand drawn on graph paper right now)
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Musical Hat on: November 16, 2006 10:45:02 PM
I just finished knitting this hat for my boyfriend.  Despite being a chemical engineer, he loves music, and plays the viola in several groups.  I designed the pattern myself, and though it is hard to tell in the pictures, it reads all the way around on the top line then the bottom.  And best of all, it is real viola music, and is actually the intro to the Beatles song "Yesterday".  Let me know what you think, or suggestions to make it better or clearer.

Side two:

sorry about the big pictures, I was trying to make it easier to see the design
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / My first two dresses ever! on: July 25, 2006 07:21:32 AM
These probably aren't all that fantastic, but I am so proud of them because they are my first two attempts at making dresses!  I was so scared to try them at first because I always have so much trouble getting dresses to fit me right (and even more trouble getting styles that flatter me)

Here they are:

my dress for fall

And the back

My summer dress (this is my favorite)

And the back

Do you guys think I should leave the second dress as a halter or attach the straps in the back?  I can't quite decide. . .

thanks for looking!  and all comments and suggestions welcome

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Retro-y fabric = Awesome bags on: July 22, 2006 02:24:53 PM
So after a very expensive trip to Joanns, I have been sewing all weekend.  Here are three bags I finished:

First off, for my grandmother, who is going to be helping me pack and clean before I move:

and the inside:

This bag I made for one of my best friend's 30th birthday:

and the inside:

And the last one, which I was originally planning to give away, but I don't know if I can part with it.  It's just big enough to hold record albums, which I love to collect!

and the inside:

Do you guys think I could sell these on Etsy or Ebay?  I love to make them, but it is an expensive hobby plus I have too many bags already. . .

thanks for looking and all comments welcome!

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: dresses and fat pants! on: July 21, 2006 07:20:58 AM
I love the first dress!  And how lucky you are that you can wear a dress like that!

(I can't do strapless, plus I have much more belly fat than you!)
6  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Re: Needle felted sheep face on: July 21, 2006 07:17:44 AM
Absolutely adorable!  I want one too!
7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Cloth recommendation! so indecisive! on: July 21, 2006 07:11:08 AM
I also really like the last fabric!  And I agree that you should do the bottom right because the ribbon accents on the other one won't show up too well with the busy fabric.

8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Asian skirt w/ black satin ruffles -& a schweet waistband!!! (1st skirt) on: July 14, 2006 01:07:04 PM
Love the fabric!
9  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Baking gluten-free--any good recipes or tips? on: July 14, 2006 09:27:52 AM
My boyfriend is allergic to gluten, and I love to bake, so it has been a challenge for me to try to bake stuff that he can eat.  Does anyone have any tips (what kind of alternative flours to use, etc) or any recipes that they know work well?  I would really like a recipe for pie crust and any kind of bread.
10  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / VW Bug Quilt on: July 14, 2006 08:42:07 AM
This is my first attempt at an applique quilt.  I think it is a lot of fun, and I love all the bright colors.

Let me know what you think!
