has anyone tries to knit with that DMC floss? and would it make sense to but a ball of wool, split the plies and use that as sock yarn?

this was a house coat that i had to get when i saw it at the Salvation Army. it was $6 i think. it looked like a quilted coat that was from the Matrix movies. I forgot to take a before pic, but if you ever saw the movies, you know what it looked like. I cut it down to a cute length, slimmed it down, and added length to the sleeves.

this is a zip-up cardi that i made a while ago. I'm just now getting a chance to post it. i got the pattern from hip knits, but i altered the pattern so much, it's pretty much my own now.

my sewing machine is in the shop or else i would just sew it. can you serge knit material without tearing up the serger or hte fabric? i don't mean regular knit fabric, i mean hand knitted garments
