I am scared of dye. Yes I am. *hangs head in shame*

Acrylic paint will not stick, and neither will spray paint. Before I tried those, I had a go at shoe polish, but it only made them grey.
What I may do in the next study break is to strip the paint off, remove as much of the original white as possible (go go wire brush!), and give it half a dozen coats of polish. If that doesn't work...well, I may just scream.

If anyone has any other ideas, they would be most welcome. Smiley
oh no! dont be afraid. you could soak em in tea or beet juice you could even grass stain em!

I liiike... Wink

Just a quick question - are the shoes leather, and if so, how in the hell did you get the paint to stick to them?! I fear my sneakers shall forever be white until I solve this problem.
i think the shoes came from wally mart fer cheap, so i'd say they are something synthitic.
you have white leather shoes that need colour? have you tried dye?

7  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 10 ENTRIES / thought on your batiked shoes... on: April 07, 2006 03:03:32 PM
i'm a dye tachnichian by trade with special interests in batik, hope you won't find my suggestion to forward, was wondering if you tried painting the dye on, you can buy a medium - manutex - or even mixing your dye into flour to make a paste works, the dye has less of a tendency to run, it sits on the surface and the flour can create a textured effect... hopes this helps for future reference...  Smiley

with only 9 minutes left to april 6th, lets hope this works;;;
i took one boring pair of mary janes with super heels and spray painted them pink. not satisfied, thinking glitter would do the trick, i hole punched some silver and teal foil paper and modge podged the "holes" over the tops and used the remainder of the paper to do the heels and sole. end product - shoes that are louder than the band they will be preforming in!!! Kiss
