1  Re: Slouch-a-long! in Knitalongs by Tricoteuse on: April 30, 2007 10:26:26 AM
I've wanted to make one of these for ages, but I wasn't sure if I would look silly in one.  I finally took the plunge and knit one up yesterday, and I think it turned out rather nicely.

It's a lot slouchier than it looks in the pic, and I love it!  It stays on my head really well, and I've had absolutely no problems with it trying to slide off.  It's officially my new favorite hat.

Long live the slouch!

Edited to adjust image size because that pic was yooge, yo.

Ooh, Jaywalkers!  I'm one of two people who haven't made some yet!

As for my April socks, I ::sniff:: won't be able to finish mine in time.  Oh, the shame!  I was doing so well, too!  However, I did get one of the socks finished a few days ago.

I'm so proud!  This pattern gave me a few problems, but I think I'm a better knitter because of it.  The second one should go by a lot faster.  Grin

(We'll see if that happens!)

Thanks to my self-confident thick-headedness (Look ma!  No chart!), I managed to spectacularly fuck up five rows of lacework on the foot.  So . . .

I'm scrubbing up for a little surgery.  Nothing I can't handle, though--I'll let you know how it turns out.  Grin

I finally got around to making one of these today!

These things are so adorable--thanks for the inspiration, Whatsername KT!

5  Don-Don: Pretty Elephant! in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by Tricoteuse on: April 07, 2007 12:36:49 PM
So I was hanging out last night after sharing some Irish coffee with some friends and found I wasn't tired in the least.  Not wanting to lay in bed with  my eyes wide open for a few hours, I made an elephant instead.

I used an amigurumi pattern by Tamara Bower Snow when the patterns were still free (very very generous of her to do that for so long).  I crocheted him with some Lion Brand Jiffy I found in my stash the other day.  Isn't he adorable?  Smiley

Loving the socks, everyone!  Glad to see we're all making progress.

And speaking of progress . . .

I really should put down the cotton socks I'm working on--I haven't made as much progress as I'd like!  But, I love the Pomatomus pattern so much, even if I tend to forget to knit in the back loop sometimes.  It's so gorgeous so far, in my opinion.  I think I picked the right pattern to showchase this wonderful yarn.  Grin

7  Re: Giant Star Shaped Rainbow Blanket in Crochet: Completed Projects by Tricoteuse on: March 16, 2007 07:10:52 PM
I looove this blanket!  It reminds me of one I made so long ago:

But damn do I wish I had made it into a star like you did!  Perhaps I'll make a star purse instead . . .

Kickass job!  Cheesy

8  Re: Knitty's Monkey-along? in Knitalongs by Tricoteuse on: March 01, 2007 12:38:50 PM
Here's my Pride Monkey!

Definitely a lot brighter than my usual knits.  I love how the tye-dye looks in this pattern.

This is such a nice break project too; it's amazing how complicated the simplest lace looks.  These socks break up the monotony of some of my other projects.  I am in love with Cookie's sock patterns!

I ended up deviating from the set pattern, but I did stick with my own interpretation of love.

My boyfriend and I go to different colleges (we met in high school), so I only get to see him one weekend a month.  We decided that he could visit me the weekend be for Valentine's Day to celebrate the holiday together, and I knew I wanted to get him something special.

What could be better than handknit socks?

He'd told me over the phone before that his house is extremely cold--he often wakes up seeing his breath, and his room has no carpet.  He hinted to me that he wanted me to knit him some socks, and I was determined to knit them before he came to visit.  I chose a nice charcoal grey yarn called "Sweet Licorice," which instantly made me think of his favorite candy: pure black licorice.  The really good kind.  So, I knit the cuff of these socks with alternating 4- and 2-stitch cables to resemble licorice.  I've officially dubbed these socks "Black Licorice Socks."

So, I wrapped up the socks and packed them with a bag of his favorite black licorice, and what do you know?

He loves them.

Remembering the little things, and making something for the ones you love the most.  To me, that's love.

Happy early Valentine's Day, everyone!

Okay!  I finished one of my socks a few days ago and didn't cast on the other one until yesterday (I got distracted by a hat):

I love this pattern--it's the Bells and Whistles socks from Interweave Press, and it's very pretty.  All the little cables and lace together are gorgeous.

I've got a few tests over the next two weeks, but I feel pretty confident I can finish the other one by the end of the month!
