561  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Clapotis from Knitty on: April 23, 2006 01:40:48 PM
Kimbabwe, maybe it's just my screen, but I probably wouldn't have noticed that color change if you hadn't pointed it out. I love your color choice, anyway.

I cast on three days ago and I'm already on the straight section... and already bored. Only 9 more repeats to go... *sigh* At least I have some new movies to watch.

Oh my stars and garters, reading through this thread has been so freakin' inspiring. So many beautiful clapoti! It's also been frustrating, because I ordered some Andean Silk from knitpicks, and the package is sitting in my apt. building management office, calling my name, as I sit here NOT KNITTING. (I was notified yesterday that I had a package waiting for me, but I get off work pretty late and the office was already closed. I went this morning before work and the lady was too busy with her personal phone call to get me my damn package, or just give me the $(*#&%@# key to the mailroom... then I raced back on my "lunch" break, got there at 5:55pm, and the office was already closed! They're supposed to close at 6. Whatevs. I'm not a raging knitaholic. Really. I can handle this. I've got fallback projects. Just keep breathing.)

Anywho, I'm jumping on this thread a little late in the game because 2 women in my SNB have finished theirs in the last month or so and they are gorgeous. I can't wait to get started.
564  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects / Re: Style advice please on: April 14, 2006 07:12:06 PM
I think it looks fine, and I think it looks better without the belt, which is just going to emphasize any tummy. I'm pretty much waistless myself, so I sympathize. But if you like your legs, you could wear this with a short jean skirt, or add some length with a contrast hem and wear it alone. (Or just wear it alone as is, if you REALLY like your legs.) Adding shaping wouldn't be too difficult either though--just have a friend stand behind you, pinch in some fabric, and pin it.
565  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Holly by magnits? on: April 10, 2006 10:33:59 AM
It sounds like you cast on at the bottom, since you do waist shaping and then shape armholes and neck. You're supposed to do 4.5 inches of plain stockinette before you start the waist decreases, so you could probably just change that to 1 inch or 2 inches. It would probably still be a longish top though.
566  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Re: rag rug on: April 10, 2006 12:12:36 AM
There's a pattern for a t-shirt rag rug in Alterknits. You cut the t-shirts into strips and knit them on huge needles. I haven't tried it, so I don't know how good it is, but I'm planning on it so I'll give an update.

I like it! Bear in mind I don't see anything wrong with dressing like a granny, but if you really think it needs de-grannification (or womanizing... er, de-little-girlification... whatever) just consider your shoes and accessories wisely.

You've totally inspired me--I have this long boho skirt that I bought in a fit of madness during which I forgot it was nothing I would ever wear, but now I may try to dress-ify it.

Off to look for more words to add "-ify" to.
