1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Knit/Purl question on: June 25, 2008 01:09:42 PM
So, I attempted to make a ribbed scarf, but found that, after perhaps 6 rows, the transition between the knitted and purled section had gotten disastrous. There somehow seemed to be extra loops around the needle - not extra stitches, exactly, but loops that created holes if dropped. I tried to just pass them along without adding to them, but that made the piece really tight and stiff.
I'm not sure how that happened, but I also couldn't figure out how to fix it. Does anyone have any tips for that nicky picky in-between part?
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Rewire an Exit sign? on: December 08, 2006 09:57:14 PM
So, a few months ago I was in Bellingham, Wa, and went to the ReStore. I found a killer old Exit sign, that I'd love to turn into a table lamp - BUT (I'm presuming) it needs to be rewired and have a new bulb put in.
How would I do such a thing?
3  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / Question Regarding Phrasing on: August 24, 2006 03:59:43 PM
So, I've been wanting to make a shirt that says "Plato: Killing puppies since 427 BC"
But, I'm concerned that a)people who haven't seen Rebel without a Cause won't get it and will be offended, and that b)people who have won't think it's amusing, merely distasteful.
What do you think?
4  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Oak Bed Need Overhaul on: May 13, 2006 11:14:32 PM
I just got a sturdy, great bed for free from down the street. It even has killer drawers underneath where I can store stuff. The only problem is that it absolutely consumes the visual space of my room, and it's golden oak, which I'm not a big fan of.
Any suggestions? I don't have a lot of time, but I was considering putting fabric on somehow - is there any way? I'm drapeing the rest of the room in fabric, so I thought it might be nice to have it coordinate. Do you have any ideas how to do this, or have any other ideas?
5  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Malai Kofta? on: April 13, 2006 11:16:01 AM
I always eat this at Indian resturants, and would love to make it. I found this recipe online, and was wondering if anyone could verify it for me? If you've made this, is this a good recipe?  http://www.fatfreekitchen.com/vegetables/malai-kofta.html
Also, does anyone have any preperation tips? I'm not a very good cook.
6  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / Slogan for Einstein stencil? on: April 12, 2006 01:20:22 PM
I'm making a shirt with a stencil of Einstein on one of his crazy hair days, and I want to put a slogan on it: something like "White-Man 'Fro!" but I can't remember the exact wording of that phrase. Help?
7  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / Stenciled Shirt Detail Placement on: April 11, 2006 11:02:56 PM
I have a dilemma: I really want to use a few great stencils I found on shirts, but the best place for the stencils would be at the bottom edge. I know that having detail by the stomach draws attention to that area (which I don't want), but I really can't see putting the stencils anywhere else. Should I put it on anyway, put it somewhere where it won't look as good, or wait until I lose some weight from my workout?
