11  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: [IMG] Heavy! : Double Sided Moose Hat and some other FO's... on: January 16, 2008 01:34:10 PM
Oh my gosh, I love all of them!! I think you did a fantastic job with the stranded work- mine always end up all bunchy no matter how loosely I hold the floating yarn.  I like your foliage.  It's probably my favorite of all the ones I've seen!

This is Mt. Jefferson in Oregon, from a ski trail on Mt. Hood.

13  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Spider Hat on: December 06, 2007 07:48:57 PM
I used the butterfly stitch to make an incredibly warm, fleece lined hat.  Just in time, too- it snowed a ton here today!

I think that the butterflies look like spiders, and I think it is very cool to have a spider hat, so that's what I'm calling it!

I learned the butterfly stitch from watching Knitty Gritty (Flirty Skirty) and I discovered a hat pattern that uses the butterfly stitch after I'd started making this hat. (Butterfly hat). The basic hat pattern is mine.

The shape of the hat is what I like best- it covers my ears and is longer in the back than in the front so I can pull it down without covering my eyes. The fleece lining makes it toasty warm, even when the wind is blowing snow everywhere!

Holy frak, you are my new hero!  This is the most amazing thing I've ever seen.  Plus, it's a brain on a shawl. Seriously.

Wow, good for you!  All your projects are wonderful!  You should print that out and make yourself a little "knitting storybook" or something. Cheesy

I saw the pic and thought to myself "Wow!! That's beautiful! Too bad I have no idea how to make stitches like that!"  Then I scrolled down and saw your instructions!!!
