71  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / eye glass case makeover on: July 24, 2006 07:47:39 PM
I found a pretty decent vinyl eyeglass case that I want to makeover for my dad but I'm not sure how. the vinyl is a horrible shade of beige and I really want to make it black and add some kind of interesting picture on the cover. is there a way to paint or stain vinyl? or do I have to resew it?

73  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / celebrating the outdoors on: July 18, 2006 05:47:59 PM
this could be a swap where you only craft with things found outdoors or things you can use outdoors IE..glammed up frisbie,a journal made of woven palm leaves, or even some cool sculptures made out of pinecones and twigs.

77  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / fathers day bisque mug on: June 17, 2006 06:26:43 PM
My dad has allways been a tad weird. He loves to go on about cockroaches, maggots, as well as gross (many including zombies) pranks he would love to play on people. but he also loves coffee, so I figure I will combine the two. originally I wanted to have a clay worm crawling out of the top, but I was low on time.

this is the drawing I created as a rough draft

but because the glaze looks completly different once it is fired, I didn't get the rusty look that I wanted on the bottom of the mug. You cant tell in the picture, but the base is covered in brown speckles, has a few grey smudges.
I ended up filling it with some of his faverite candy

79  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / storage belt on: June 03, 2006 04:45:05 PM
after fallowing a tutorial from this site I made myself a money belt. I am still new to the sewing machine so rather than butcher some new fabric I used some old fabric that was going to be thrown away. It came together rather nicely, I think. I will definitely use thicker fabric next time.

80  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Father's Day / fathers day mug questions on: June 02, 2006 07:47:29 AM
My dad is a very odd person. He enjoys grossing everyone in the family out by discussing worms while were eating spaghetti, talking about giant pet cockroaches, and all the great pranks he would pull if he were super rich (think zombies) But above all else he loves coffee. I want to try and create a decayed looking coffee mug. add some cracks, fake rust, and of course a polymer clay worm coming out of the cup.

But I am not sure how to do it. will polymer clay adhere to a coffee mug? will it be machine washable? and what kind of paint and finish should I use (I don't want it to be very glossy)
this is a quick drawing of what I want (the rust will be more subtle)
