11  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / pinata frame on: May 07, 2007 05:05:36 PM
hello friends, i am in need of your crafty help tonight.

my friends and i are having a mexican themed memorial day party.  we were tired of the old red white and blue and needed a change.

this is when ive had my best idea ever!  a beer bottle pinata filled not with candy but with those tiny bottles of alcohol you get at the register at the liquor store, plastic bottles of course.

now heres where i ran into my problem, i havent a clue how to start. i know how to make a pinata fine.  i just cant start it.  i need an easy way to create a frame that will hold up enough for me to have many layers or paper mache'  i started out with strips of card board and made a basic frame but it turned out really wonky and leaning severly to the one side.  i thought about blowing up some balloons and then just decreasing the amount i blow them up to make the neck of the bottle.

i am at a loss for this.  can someone please help me out?! Huh
12  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / 4 pictures frames on: December 03, 2006 12:06:02 PM
here are some frames i made for my bestest friends for christmas presents.  i am extremely happy with the way they came out.  they were all dollar store frames.

this one is simply painted with a sticker on it that says 'hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees.'  with a picture of the recipient and her mother

this one was painted black and on the smaller sides scrapbooking paper modge podged on.  and on the black parts i cut out the little flowers from the paper and glued them on too, along with a little bit of glitter.
i thought it went well with a picture of the recipients boy friend modeling a coconut bra from a party we had this past summer.

this frame started out pretty yucky.  it was a ugly wood color and not smooth or anything,  so i used a dollar store bandanna and covered it and cut out a few hibiscus from another bandanna and glues it on.  its a picture of the 4 of us a our luau.

and the final fram had two parts to it so i covered both with a bandanna with hibiscus flowers on it and then added on to the side.  it has two pictures of us im on the right in both.

my apologies for the blurry ones.  it was hard to get a picture of them with out the flash masking half the frame.

this is a small dollar store box that i painted for my mom.  she likes unicorns so i thought i would go ahead and do one.  its not my best work and it looked alot better when i sketched it out.  but i guess itll have to do.  i figured she could keep her iPod in here when shes not using it.

it says "Now I Believe in Unicorns"

18  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / seaside bed room (really long with 6 imgs) on: November 01, 2006 11:39:33 AM
when my boyfriend moved into his new house with his mom, he had been living with his dad for a while, so he decided that his new room was going to be a sea theme.  we painting the walls a sandy color called 'sea grass'  except for the area around the bed, he wanted it white.

there was an odd shaped window that looked half at the chimney and half into the neighbors house.  so i stained glassed it.  ive gotten lots of complements from the neighbors and anyone whos ever been in that room of their house.

since i sleep there 2-3 times a week i needed my own space for clothes and of course my craftyness.  his sister gave us a really beat up old dresser and i made it my own.

close ups.

eternity begins and ends with the oceans tides.

also behind our bed is a mural thats still in progress.  i dont think it will even be finished bc every time i do something to it i dont like it and change it.  it was stormy and then bright it had tons of birds now only a few.  it was the starting of a sunset, now its mid-day.  it will never end.  the only thing ive kept is the bouy with the resting seagull on the right.

also in the corner behind the couch where the ceiling slopes ive got a net with some seashells and small wooden dolphins swimming with pictures i took on one of our vacations last year or the ocean waves clipped with small clothes pins.  the cat loves to knock everything and ive given up putting everything right every other day.

ive talked to much,  thanks for looking!

20  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / colored glass etching cream on: May 02, 2006 07:23:01 PM
hi all, im not sure where this question would fit, and any feed back would be a help right now.

i have used the glass etching cream by armour etch and loved the results.  ive done one vase and several shot glasses.  i was just wondering if there was a way to color the etching cream.  i have also used stained glass and have plenty of that laying around.

any other ideas you might have or even a place for getting good pictures for stencils wold be gret to. thank you so much!
