1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / Re: First craft fair experience on: December 11, 2006 06:50:20 PM
Sometimes at Christmas craft fairs people are just in the mood to buy Christmassy things.  Don't take it personally. Your stuff sounds great and I wouldn't lower the prices at all.  Keep trying, I'm sure they will sell at a different sale.

Thanks for the pattern, I'm going to try it. Do you have a picture of the finished product?
3  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / Re: How to recover from a flop on: November 22, 2006 10:56:09 AM
I was selling at a two day craft fair last weekend and on the Friday I sold absolutely nothing, on Saturday I sold lots of stuff.  (knitted scarves).  There were actually more people on Friday. I can't explain it. If you have poor sales several times in a row you might question your product but don't let one bad day get you down too much.

Sometimes if you take your product into small independent clothing stores they will buy directly from you if it goes with what they sell.

Ask the owner about how she deals with missing items, also when you get paid for what you sell. I always assume it is by the month but this isn't always the case.  I wouldn't worry too much about the theft thing, I had a consignment store once and I don't recall ever losing anything to theft and if I did I would have paid for it myself.  If I couldn't return the inventory  to the client  (ie if something had been broken)then it would be treated as sold and they would get the full amount. Check out the store and the owner and if it feels good, go ahead!

I love it. The skull looks kind of rustic and voodoo-like. Good idea to pin on the skull, although I personally would probably never take it off!
7  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Re: Pricing Survey on: November 19, 2006 03:41:30 PM
1. Yes I buy handmade paper.
2. 50 cents
3. 50 cents

I'd prefer bigger sheets. Although I'd pay the same for 6x6 and 4x6, i'd be more likely to buy the 6x6.

I think it just needs to be simplified a bit. The Logos should be the same.  The row of links at the very top is distracting.
I agree, the welcome is too long. Actually, do you really need the welcome? You could put the contact information at the bottom (under the earrings) and maybe under the logo mention custom earrings, as part of the title.
I like the colors, although I find the yellow a bit too bright. It might be better with 3 colors, 4 is too many.   I don't mean to be too critical though, at first glance I liked it, it's just that you asked how it could be improved!   I love the earrings.
9  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re: What inexpensive Advertising works best? on: November 16, 2006 09:26:09 AM
You could fine a well read knitting blog or similar site and ask for them to mention you; you could even send them a free set of needles in exchange for some promotion.

Word of mouth is great. Make sure you send a few extra business cards along with your orders so customers can give cards to interested friends.

 I like 14 and 26.
Although it's a bit hard to read, #22 looks like a chrome name logo that would be on a 50's car.
