1  Re: Pictures of craft fair setup - Please post! in Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs by elabela on: June 07, 2009 09:17:07 PM
Thought I would share ours! Smiley

We do both pretty rigid, juried art shows, as well as small town summer festivals. This booth display is our main indoor display. We do something similar but not quite as extensive for outdoor or short shows. For an indoor show, it will usually take us 1-2 days setup. We can do it in one, but we usually do 1 full day setup, and then before opening on first day of show we spend a couple hours putting out product, etc. It's a lot of work, but this type of show requires pretty professional booths, and booth fees are in the thousands. But the profits make it worth it for us.

I don't hav ea photo of our outdoor display, but will try and take some this summer.

haha true! Well thankfully the buckets are all hidden under the bed and/or in  a tiny closet.. but we picked up a vintage dresser yesterday at Value Village that we are in the process of refinishing..
We got some ammmmazing drawer pulls/knobs

and are going to sand it down and repaint it. so yoohoo for that! haha

Great idea on the curtains for around the bed as well, that is a great idea.. I am going to go to the local fabric store the next time I am in the city and see what kinds of fabric they have in their clearance section.. They often have raw silk and lots of sheery stuff..

I am picturing sheer/shimmery copper for the bed, and raw silk choc. brown for the windows.. ooh..

It's all coming together! If I EVER get it done, I will be sure to post pics!

3  Re: What's on your list for chrismas this year? in Winter Holidays by elabela on: September 29, 2007 06:45:09 PM
ok modified because I just realized new knitty is up!! yummy.
I love love love muir and must make it for someone. No idea who at the moment though.. maybe my travelling girl.

For my bestest girl who is in love with her bike, I want to make some sort of wrap for the bike istelf.. a la

For her girlfriend, who is even more in love with her bike, probably the same thing! lol

For my mom, some really luxe socks.. basic pattern, but maybe a really high quality yarn? or some pretty arm warmers(which she has an addiction to)

maybe a really pretty/soft/cashmery scarf for my brothers girlfriend.. she's tough, or some cute mitts/hat combo.

still no clue for my brothers OR my dad! eep!

5  IWK-Dollar & A half Cardigan? in Knitalongs by elabela on: March 05, 2007 10:13:13 AM

omg.. I was sick last week and was at the pharmacy in my teeny town picking up medicine and saw they carried IWK! what?! of course, they only carry ONE copy(not kidding) so it's a good thing I got it when I did! and when I saw the dollar and a half sweater I knew what the knit gods were telling me.. knit knit knit knit knit.. yum.

so.. I am annoyed with knitpicks cotlin colour choices though, and had to go with the keylime, even thoguh I wanted a brown, but I am poor and cotlin was the most I could afford! *sigh* oh well. we shall see..

7  etch a sketch table! (my moms work) in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by elabela on: October 25, 2006 09:12:27 PM
My mom was asked to participate in a furniture auction to raise funds for the families of cancer patients at the hospital that my little cousin is receiving treatment at.

We found a really funky retro table for 8$ at a flea market and revamped it a bit.. It looks sooo amazing in real life, the dials are made from polymer clay(thats her actual business, and journal making) the rest is all painted.. but when you seei t from certian angles it looks completely 3d..

8  Re: yarn from fabric say whaaaaaaaaat?? in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by elabela on: October 19, 2006 08:23:59 PM
if you know anyone with power saw,etc.. I once made a bag that was crocheted fabric.. made wtih fabric like this

Anyway, we bought the fabric for it, but what the guy does is takes an entire roll of fabric and power saws it in inch wide strips. so you can cut the whole roll at once.. pretty sweet

9  Re: Giftalong (not a gift exchange) in Knitalongs by elabela on: October 16, 2006 10:56:05 AM
I just discovered the perfect inspiration for my family from the east coast(nova scotia) they were my host parents during a world travel experience a few years ago.. anyway.. I have been trying to think of something good for them, they both work outside year round, they are organic gardners, own organic nurserie/landscaping business, are huge environmentalists and like simple, clean.

anyway.. I'm going to put together a small basket with organic teas/coffees and the following.

now I just have to find some yummy organic cotton or wool for them.. yay Smiley

I'm planning to knit the go anywhere cardi from SNB.. I was going to star the other night but i was so exhausted... I couldn't even count the CO stitches right! hahahaha so i'm knitting the kittyville hat in the meantime, just for some instant gratification, and to prove to my coworkers that I really CAN finish a project.. hehe

i tend to be a slow knitter because i also tend to knit something or other, watch tv, play on the computer,etc.. but i plan on sitting up in my room tomorrow with my mp3 player and knitting away until i have to go to work!

oh and I'm not using the recommended yarn, though guage is the same.. i am using eco-fil recycled earth-friendly yarn.. ironically bought at...walmart..haha

it is a dark purple with very light feathering.. some pink, and different coloured purples, but hardly noticiable, just really nice..
