I think it's on the thinner side; a nice soft leather, too. (I will definitely bet stocking up on backup needles!!)  Grin

Thanks for the reply! Even though I wasn't quite sure why I'd need it, I've wanted a serger, tho it is out of my budget at the moment Smiley
5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Leather Coat into Leather Bag --- TIPS? on: September 13, 2007 11:51:29 AM
OK, So, I want to turn an old leather jacket into a purse...but I'm concerned about my sewing machine surviving...any tips? Any advice appreciated.  Grin

By the by, I also was wondering if someone could explain to me the benefits of a serger...I mean I'm not even sure what it's for/why it's different from a sewing machine. I understand that it's a professional tool, moreso, but I'm not sure why... Huh

LOOOVE the hello kitty hat - awesome!!

can i ask - what stitch did u use? i can't quite tell in the blog picture...i'm just used to single or doubles usually, but that looks a little different.  Huh

also, did you sew the ears on separately? or was that all in one piece (except the bows, eyes, etc)  Wink
