11  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / August Birthday Swap (Signup 8/2/2007-8/31/2007) on: August 02, 2007 03:55:33 AM

Alright August Birthday Babes and people who want to craft for them, here goes:

NEW RULES: In order to comply with the new swap rules, ALL BIRTHDAY BABES WHO POST A BIRTHDAY WISH LIST MUST FULFILL A BIRTHDAY WISH OF AT LEAST ONE FELLOW BIRTHDAY BABE.  In other words, if you post a list and receive a gift, you must send at least one gift.  Non-birthday craftsters may still send "unconditionally".  Unconditionally in this swap means if someone fulfills one of your birthday wishes, you will send them a thank you note via snail mail.  PM's or thank you posts do not count as thank you notes.  Negative feedback will be given for those who post lists and receive, but never send.  Negative feedback will also be given to those who don't send a thank you note. Please read below for the exact details.  They are in BOLD.

Swap name: August 2007 Birthday Swap
Craftster member who is organizing this swap: Avril222

FOR CHOOSING A BIRTHDAY WISH TO FULFILL Sign-up date range: 08/02/07 - 08/31/07
DATE TO SEND ITEMS BY:  2 weeks after you claim someone unless other arrangements are made ahead of time

Limited to a certain number of people?: No.
Restricted to people who all live in the same country? No.
All ages allowed.

Swap Organizer himself/herself meets these conditions:
- Has fully read the Swap Info Guide: YES
- Has successfully completed two swaps as a participant: YES
- Is not organizing more than three swaps right now: YES
- Will recruit a co-organizer or give all details to a Swap Moderator if this swap has more than 25 participants: YES

Swap Organizer will check each participant to make sure they meet these conditions:
- Has been a member for at least one month: YES
- Has posted at least 15 times: YES
- Has completed one swap successfully before signing up for multiple swaps at a time: YES
- Is not currently signed up for more than five swaps: YES
- Does not have any negative feedback: YES

Details of swap:  This swap was organized so everyone can get something crafty for their birthday!  Please read the guidelines carefully.

    * If your birthday is in August, then you can post your birthday wish list for this month. To do that, you must first PM me with the Swap questionnaire filled out.

    * Once you have been approved, you may post your list of things that you would want to receive.  The more you think of, the better.  Please try to have a good mix of items on your list.  The last wish you will post is "a surprise."  Then you will post a bio about yourself, including where you are from and what day your birthday is.

    * Please post lists only.  No discussion on this thread please.

    * Everyone will then go through the lists and choose a craftster they want to send a birthday gift to.  Your birthday does not have to be in August for you to craft for someone!  If you want to choose someone, just PM me with your info (including your address, please), who you want to craft for, what item, and I will send you their address.

    * When you choose to fulfill a birthday wish, you have 2 weeks to get the item out the door unless you communicate in advance that something will take a bit longer.  If two weeks pass, and I don't hear anything from youyou guessed it, negative feedback!

    * Each person can be chosen unlimited times!  HERE'S THE CATCH - when you get chosen, you must choose a fellow August baby to send a birthday wish to before  August 31, 2007.  You must also send the person who crafted for you a thank you note within 2 weeks of receiving.   Failure to do either of these things will result in NEGATIVE FEEDBACK.

    * It is super important for everyone to keep good communication
.  It is required that when you send, let me know, and of course, don't forget the DC#.  It is required that when you receive, let me know and publicly announce in the gallery (even if you don't have pictures).  Also, let me know when you send off or receive your thank you note (no DC# required, you're on your honor!).

    * You can choose to craft for as many people as you like, but you cannot "owe" more than 3 things.  If you are a newbie and this is your first swap, you must successfully send once before choosing again.

    * Please state at the beginning of your list where you are located.  Some people absolutely cannot send to people overseas for any number of reasons.  We need to respect this valid concern.

*When one of your items is chosen, I will pm you to let you know what was chosen and who picked it. Please cross it out so that it is easier for others to see what has been chosen and thank the person at this time.

If you have any more questions or suggestions, you can send me a PM with "August Birthday Swap " in the subject line.

13  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Barbershop Frog Puppet on: July 28, 2007 06:20:23 PM

so, i made him a few months ago for my boyfriend who needed a .....
frog puppet for this show that he was working on. he took me days of planning, i am embarrassed to say, the figure out how to make a puppet body that would attach to a head that would actually let me move the mouth and be fully stuffed to look like a frog. this was my first attempt at a puppet. not having any idea how to make him, i ended up using loads of felt, poly fill, some tiger eyes from pearl craft, and about 8 million hours of sewing by hand. needless to say, i was thrilled when i was finally done. i think he came out pretty cute and that the pictures don't do him justice...
i love comments and gentle criticisms, but dont be too harsh, he's my first attempt

from the front...

a side view...

and singing his heart out...

it seems like mammals and furry creatures get all the love...
so, as one reptile owner to the next, could we get a swap going for us reptile lovers?
i will gladly organize as long as there is interest from the craftster community.
i'm already excited so i hope that this works out!

17  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / scratch...a modern (chicken) hero on: July 05, 2006 07:11:40 AM
my boyfriend works for an animation company based here in massachusetts and writes about superheroes
thus, scratch was born....he is rooster made out of sculpey III clay with a taste for moonshine. his character is supposed to be a sort of tired, dejected, past his prime chicken. his back side is kinda neat but i dont have a camera right now so no butt shots. yeah, so...tell me what you think! comments are really appreciated!

without further ado, the total body...

a different angle...

and a face only a mother could love...

18  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / there's no place like home...if i lived with Prince on: May 27, 2006 04:18:45 AM
so, i entered the craft challenge #10, footwear facelift as my first post https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=88306.0 and i realized how amazing it was to revamp some ugly shoes. but they were a bit labor intensive so i wanted to do another pair of shoes minus the work. i perused craftster and saw these beauties https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=53898.0 and thought...purple glitter.
my favorite pair of purple leather pumps had taken a turn for the worse from one too many late nights so...
i went to the craft store, grabbed purple glitter, super 77 adhesive (bad idea... i had glitter on my hands for days), and ran home...
without further ado

and closeup

so yeah i put on 1 coat tacky glue, then glitter, then tacky glue, then glitter, then tacky glue, spray latex or silicone, 3 days drying time and voila
i wore them out and people loved them!

what do you think?
19  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 10 ENTRIES / beaded shoe springtacular on: April 04, 2006 07:24:08 PM
hi, i took a pair of black heels that looked like these:

4 different colors of bugle beads, some serious tacky glue, snipping of the ankle strap, and a little sculpey clay (and some seed beads and clip on earring backs so that the flowers can be removed...) for the flowers later and voila:

this is my first post and first crafster project ever! so what do you think?
