I love the fake V-neck!  What a bumpin' idea! The painted-on polka dots is cool too...much easier than trying to sew on coordinating fabric.  Kudos to you!

Hooooooly cow everyone!  Thanks so much for the response!   I'm so flattered!

I actually wore it today (with jeans, because I'm lazy and I didn't feel like doing the ol' shavey-shave) and I got several compliments; people were totally shocked when I told them I made it, especially out of our ugly college t-shirts.

I haven't washed it yet, so I don't know how it'll hold up

For those of you looking to make your own, just follow this tutorial:

For the sleeves, I just made long skinny triangle shapes, attaching the pointy side to the front and the base to the back.  You might have to use extra fabric from another shirt to make them long/wide enough.
Also, I added a waistband under the bust (to hide my crappy stitching!), but that's pretty easy and self-explanatory.
It helps if you use a blank t-shirt so that you have more material to work with  (I didn't, regretfully).
It took me a long time, most of that was trying to figure out how to fix my stupid mistakes, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty basic.
Above all, if things don't work, just improvise!

Happy crafting!

I meant to post this before, but this is such a great idea and thank you so much for the tutorial!  You are magnificent!

I joined craftster 3 years ago and just last week I finally got around to:

a. buying a functional sewing machine
b. learning how to use it, and
c. actually making something!

So I used this tutorial (with a few modifications): https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=177288.0 and an XL shirt and got at it.  Here's what came out:

(The back looks kind of weird here because of the way I'm standing, but there are actually no crazy creases back there.)

This is my very first solo project.  I'm still learning how to sew, so the seams are a bit wonky, but I'm in love with it.
Now I just need to find an excuse to wear it!
