1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Purple baby wrap (stroller friendly) on: September 10, 2011 01:31:19 PM
Well, we don't have baby showers here in France but we do make gifts for newborns  Wink

Here is a baby wrap I made.
It's designed to be compatible with car seats and strollers and carriers.
So that you don't wake up the baby while trying to dress / undress him or her.
Actually, it can also be used as a baby sleeping bag  Cool

I found the pattern on a french blog :

2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Old leather jacket to new leather jacket on: November 21, 2010 10:51:42 AM
I am very surprised I only broke 2 needles making this project !  Cool

So... I had a big crush on perfectos with sexy dresses. Some options were available in shops. Alas, the cost was higher than any clothing item I ever purshased ! In addition, I didnt feel comfortable with supporting the leather industry. So I try to do my best at forgetting about it.  Sad

Until I found an old one in a thrift store !!!! The fit was terribly outdated, specially in the shoulder area and it was way too big :

that's when the sewing machine became involved. I wasn't sure my small machine could handle such heavy work. but it did here is the new fit :

Now I have to decide wether I have enough patience to make a brand new lining or leave it like that  Grin
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Robe noire on: November 14, 2010 01:11:02 AM
Hi everyone, Here is a black dress I made recently :

I already made a first version of this dress here :
It was the perfect thing to wear during hot summer days in italy. Unfortunately, it had a few problems :
- in order to get in and out, I made a very deep opening in the back... it was almost embarrassing !
- the skirt part was longer in the back than in the front (weird...)
- the fabric was ugly !

That's how came this dress.
The top is still based on the tutorial from appleshannon : https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=339575.0
The back has now a corset inspired opening

The eyelets for "the corset" are buttonholes from a disliked clothing item (the big one in the following picture). Actually, I only used recycled material... even the elastic band comes from an old sleeping mask ! (I made this last thursday which is national holiday in france, there were no way to find an open fabric store, it definetely pushed me to be "creative").  Grin

Comments and critics are welcomed. Wish you a pleasant sunday Smiley
4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Looking for kits for making original plushs on: September 30, 2010 10:50:24 AM
Hi everyone,

I'd like to offer a kit to someone who loves sewing little creatures.
It needs to be super original since she has a lot of sewing books already.

So far I am considering :
http://www.etsy.com/listing/40348808/tim-tam-complete-mink-kit-by-bare-cub (above my price limit but nice !)
http://www.kallou.fr/boutique/kits/LivreTutti/KitsTutti_Dispo.htm (unfortunately, the pattern is not included)

Would you have any suggestions for me ?
I would be delighted to know everyone's favourites plush artists (ideally who sells kits too or at least patterns !).
Thanks a lot in advance Wink
5  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Scrabble pillow cases on: August 29, 2010 02:44:01 AM
First, I have seen scrabble pillow somewhere on the internet : http://www.hartfeltdesign.com/cream-and-black-letter-cushions-76-p.asp
and remembered my sister in law and her husband's passion are boardgames.

So I decided to make them scrabble pillow case with their initials.
Basically, I just printed letters at the right size and appliqued it then constructed the pillow case (only one piece !).
Here is the result :

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Manteau rouge on: August 22, 2010 05:40:54 AM
I have been wanting a red coat for a long time (and I've been really picky about it).
Finally, I made one myself (even if I was scared to ruined the beautiful wool I purchased !).
Actually, it wasn't that hard  Tongue I used a pattern from a french book, Les intemportels pour futures mamans http://www.amazon.fr/Intemporels-futures-mamans-Astrid-Provost/dp/2081214350. This book is actually about pregnant clothing, but I really like it anyway and believe it's suitable for anyone Grin There is a nice community blog about this book here : http://fancitronille.canalblog.com/archives/__ipmaman___p86___manteau_trois_quarts/index.html

The only thing I changed was using a ribbon for the closing instead of buttons.

The collar can be worn "up" :

or "down" :

7  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Play Lettuce on: April 04, 2010 10:39:46 AM
My project is to make a whole set of knitted / crocheted vegetables for my nephew.
Well... Let me introduce you the lettuce :
(Pattern is my own, but I am not capable of writing it down  Embarrassed)

How do you like it ?
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Altered monsoon dress on: February 21, 2010 05:51:28 AM
I found a monsoon dress for 5 euros in a german thriftstore. The fabric was beautilful, and the construction was interesting... But the fit in the bust / sleeve area was terribly WRONG.

BEFORE  Roll Eyes

After much cutting, sewing, undoing, redoing, and creating a sash (intended to emphasize the asiatic style of the dress), it became this :
(I couldn't resist to show you the alps in background  Wink)

Bonus side view

The dress got shorter in the process, I hope I didn't destroy the "silhouette". The sash is based on this tutorial http://www.petitcitron.com/index.php/Accessoires/Ceinture-obi.html just a rectangle with strings, nothing sophisticated !
Hope you like it !
9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Radish necklace on: August 15, 2009 08:41:52 AM
I don't usually make jewels... but well recently, I fell in love with knitted radishes and decided to make myself a necklace.

Hope you like it  Kiss
10  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Radishes on: August 15, 2009 08:34:59 AM
It seems that I have a new addiction : knitting radishes ! I made them along, but if you need a pattern, you can look here (that's not mine) :
And now the pictures :

And a close up :
