111  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / a scuba diver and mouse .........(long thread) on: November 02, 2007 12:50:59 PM
I made my boys costumes this year (ok, not really MAKE them but I didn't buy any of the ones they had in the store...I'm just not too impressed with them anymore). My oldest wanted to be a scuba diver, I found the idea for it on parenting.com. I went to the thrift store and bought him girl leggings (of course I didn't tell him that otherwise he never would have worn them) and a turtleneck. We spraypainted a 2 liter soda bottle and a Gatorade cap silver and bought black tubing at Lowes. I bought felt and cotton webbing strap and elastic at the craft store. We bought his flippers and goggles brand new online so he can use them in the summer and in the bath. He actually won 3rd place in a costume contest with it at a concert party downtown! Here it is:

Originally we weren't going to dress the baby up but at the last minute I changed my mind, I mean it was his first one and I couldn't not dress him up if we were going out. So at the last minute we were running to stores and I just couldn't find a costume that I liked anyway and the ones that I did like cost like 35 dollars! For a baby's costume!!! So I went to walmart and bought a gray fleece sweatsuit and pink felt took it home, took some of my old sweatpants, some cardboard and my sewing maching and got to work. He also has a tail but you can't see it. And here is my baby mouse:

You and your mom did a great job! My favorite is the purple room and the beaded curtain. I always wanted my room to be that deep shade of purple <sigh>. I love the whole thing though.

Oops, I hit send before I was done! My favorite part is the buttons too. I love them, they look like hammered metal.
